African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has renewed his criticism of Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, saying the governor’s endorsement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu after his re-election vindicated his earlier comments about him.
Sowore made the remarks in a video shared on August 20, 2026, amid his continuing exchange with Adeleke’s nephew, Afrobeats singer Davido.
Sowore Revisits Earlier Criticism
Sowore said he did not see significant progress in Osun State during a visit and maintained his earlier assessment of Adeleke’s administration.
“I went to Osun State but didn’t see any progress made by Gov. Adeleke. As far as I’m concerned, he has nothing upstairs,” he said.
He recalled that Davido had attacked him on X after his earlier criticism of the governor.
“Davido insulted me on X for the statement, but I was later justified because his uncle endorsed Tinubu after his re-election,” Sowore said.
Dispute With Davido
The disagreement between Sowore and Davido intensified ahead of the August 15 Osun governorship election.
Sowore had criticised Adeleke’s administration and questioned the level of development in the state, while also making comments about the influence of members of the Adeleke family in Osun politics.
Davido responded on X by calling Sowore “Arindin,” a Yoruba expression commonly used as an insult.
Sowore subsequently responded by directing his criticism back at Adeleke and questioning aspects of his background and administration.
Adeleke’s Tinubu Endorsement
Adeleke was declared the winner of the Osun governorship election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on August 16.
He polled 511,067 votes to defeat All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate Bola Oyebamiji, who scored 444,815 votes.
Following his victory, Adeleke publicly thanked Tinubu for congratulating him and later spoke positively about his relationship with the president. He has also expressed support for Tinubu’s bid for another term in office.
Sowore has criticised that political position, describing Adeleke’s endorsement of Tinubu as a major mistake and arguing that it contradicted the interests of voters who supported him.
No Response From Adeleke or Davido
The latest video has continued to attract reactions online, with supporters of both men debating the governor’s record, his relationship with Tinubu and the role of the Adeleke family in Osun politics.
Neither Adeleke nor Davido had issued a detailed response to Sowore’s latest comments as of the time of reporting.
The renewed exchange comes as political alignments begin to take shape ahead of the 2027 general elections, with the Osun election emerging as an important point of discussion over governance, opposition politics and alliances in the South-West.
