African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has said his administration would place technology at the centre of governance, declaring that artificial intelligence would oversee Nigeria’s finances while drone technology would play a leading role in national defence if he is elected president.

Sowore made the remarks during an interview with content creator Lucky Udu, where he outlined his vision for a technology-driven government.

‘My Presidency Will Be About Technology’

Speaking during the interview, Sowore said technology would replace political patronage in key areas of governance.

“If I become President of Nigeria, I will make AI the Minister of Finance and a drone the Minister of Defence. My presidency will be about technology,” he said.

The interview has since circulated widely across social media platforms, generating debate over the practicality of the proposal.

Technology-Driven Governance

Sowore explained that artificial intelligence could improve transparency in public finance by reducing human interference, waste and corruption through data-driven decision-making.

He also argued that greater deployment of drone technology would strengthen Nigeria’s security architecture by improving surveillance, intelligence gathering and rapid response to threats.

The proposal is consistent with his earlier campaign statements, in which he said the future of governance should be driven by technology rather than political patronage.

Part of 2027 Campaign Message

Sowore has repeatedly advocated the use of emerging technologies to address corruption, insecurity and inefficiency in government as part of his campaign ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

His latest comments have attracted both praise from supporters, who describe the idea as innovative, and criticism from those who question how such proposals would fit within Nigeria’s constitutional framework governing ministerial appointments.
