Sowore Calls Tinubu “Biggest Agbero Lagos Ever Produced”

Omoyele Sowore, the 2027 presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), has described President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as “the biggest agbero Lagos ever produced” in a social media post on Friday, August 14, 2026.

Sowore made the remark in an X post accompanying a video clip from his appearance on News Central Television’s Breakfast Central programme, where he discussed Nigeria’s political situation ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Sowore’s Remark

In the post, Sowore wrote: “The biggest agbero Lagos ever produced is Tinubu, @officialABAT.”

The video, which runs for about two minutes, shows Sowore speaking during the programme’s “State of the Nation” segment. He appeared to be discussing the political record and influence of the president as part of a broader conversation on Nigeria’s political future.

In Lagos parlance, “agbero” commonly refers to motor park touts or street enforcers, often associated with aggressive or coercive conduct.

Reaction to Tinubu

Sowore’s comment quickly attracted reactions online, with users divided between those supporting his criticism of the president and others defending Tinubu’s political record in Lagos and his performance as president.

The remark also adds to Sowore’s repeated criticism of the Tinubu administration as he campaigns ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

2027 Presidential Race

Sowore, who contested the 2023 presidential election under the AAC, is positioning himself for another presidential contest in 2027.

President Tinubu is also expected to seek re-election, making criticism of his political record and administration an increasingly prominent part of the emerging 2027 political contest.
