A viral video circulating on social media has shown an unidentified man issuing threats against Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke and his nephew, Afrobeats singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, hours before Saturday’s governorship election.
The video was shared on X late Friday, August 14, 2026, by @originalproflle, amid heightened political tension ahead of the August 15 poll.
Man Makes Threats in Viral Video
The roughly recorded clip shows the unidentified man speaking outdoors, while images of Adeleke and Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo appear on the video alongside a “NOMINDEM TV NIGERIA” watermark and TikTok branding.
According to the transcription accompanying the post, the man said: “Adeleke will learn in the hard way. @davido will learn in the hard way.”
He also made a direct threat against Davido and offered a financial reward to people who would remove Adeleke from office.
The video poster described the speaker as an alleged thug linked to Okpebholo, but no independent evidence has established the man’s identity or political affiliation.
Okpebholo, Adeleke and Davido Clash
The video emerged after weeks of political exchanges involving Adeleke, Okpebholo and Davido during the Osun election campaign.
Okpebholo, who has campaigned for the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate Bola Oyebamiji, previously mocked Adeleke over his frequent dancing at public events.
Davido, who has campaigned for his uncle’s re-election, responded by criticising Okpebholo and calling for a peaceful, free and fair election in Osun.
The singer has also previously shared what appeared to be Okpebholo’s WAEC result on social media following the governor’s comments about Adeleke.
No Confirmation of Political Link
Despite the video’s description, there is no independent confirmation that the speaker is an Okpebholo supporter or has any formal connection with the Edo governor, the APC or its Osun campaign.
The location and date on which the video was recorded have also not been independently established. Neither Okpebholo, Adeleke, Davido nor official party representatives had publicly responded to the specific video as of early Saturday.
Authorities had also not issued a statement on the clip.
Tension Mounts Ahead of Osun Poll
The video comes against a backdrop of allegations of political violence, intimidation and thuggery during the campaign.
Security agencies have repeatedly urged political parties, candidates and supporters to avoid inflammatory statements and allow voters to participate freely in the election.
The circulation of the clip has renewed concerns over Osun governorship election security and political violence ahead of the August 15, 2026 Osun election, although the claims made in the video remain unverified.
