Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has hit back at Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo after the governor mocked his uncle, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, over his frequent dancing.

Davido responded during a “Vote, Not Fight” campaign event in Osogbo, Osun State, amid heightened political activity ahead of the August 15 governorship election.

Davido Responds to Okpebholo

Addressing Okpebholo directly, Davido questioned the governor’s criticism of Adeleke’s dancing.

“Monday Okpebholo, u don see small money, ur voice no dey shake again abi? There is nothing wrong with my Uncle Dancing, it’s because you don’t have Talent that’s why you talking anyhow,” he said.

Davido also asked what was wrong with dancing and suggested that Okpebholo’s criticism was linked to his own lack of talent.

The remarks were made while Davido addressed supporters at the Osogbo event, with the video later circulating widely on social media.

Okpebholo Mocks Adeleke’s Dancing

The exchange followed comments made by Okpebholo at an APC campaign rally on Thursday, August 6, in support of the party’s Osun governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji.

Okpebholo criticised Adeleke’s well-known dancing, questioning whether the governor had not grown tired of dancing after four years in office.

“Before somebody signs paper, he will dance. Are you not tired? For four years, this man has been dancing. Before he takes breakfast, before he drinks tea, he will dance,” he said.

The Edo governor presented the dancing as a distraction from governance while urging Osun voters to support the APC candidate.

Davido Steps Up Campaign

Davido has been actively campaigning for Adeleke’s re-election ahead of the August 15 poll.

Before his latest remarks, the singer shared what appeared to be Okpebholo’s WAEC result on his Instagram Story, which was widely interpreted online as a response to the governor’s criticism.

At the Osogbo event, Davido also defended the Adeleke administration’s record and called on President Bola Tinubu to ensure a free and fair election in Osun State.

Neither Okpebholo nor the Edo State Government had publicly responded to Davido’s latest comments as of the time of filing this report.

The exchange adds to the growing political and social media battles surrounding the Osun governorship election, with Adeleke seeking a second term against Oyebamiji.
