Nigerian Superstar, David Adedeji Adeleke, popularly known as Davido is recently all over the Nigerian news headlines for losing all his three nominations at the recently concluded Grammy Awards ceremony. The 31-year-old, with fans all across, has been expected to bring at least one Grammy back to the continent, unfortunately, it wasn’t so. However, it is important to note that this is not the first time Davido is losing very prestigious awards, despite being one of the most successful African artists in the last two decades.   To go into proper details, we have compiled a list of 7 notable awards that Davido has lost

1. Grammy Awards

As stated earlier, the Nigerian international superstar lost all his nominations at the recently concluded Grammy Awards, where he was nominated for Best Global Music Album with his fourth studio album “Timeless”. He was nominated for Best African Music Performance with his international hit single “Unavailable” and for Best Global Music Performance with his song “Feel”.

2. Soul Train Awards

In 2014, Davido lost the Prestigious Soul Train Award nomination, after he was nominated for Best International Performance for his continental smash hit ‘Aye”. The Soul Train Music Awards is an annual music awards show that honors the best in African-American culture, music, and entertainment.

3. MOBO Awards

Davido ‘is a recipient of two MOBO Awards but before 2017 it wasn’t so. The singer lost his first-ever Mobo nomination for Best African Act to British Ghananian Fuse ODG in 2014. He was  however nominated  in the same category in 2017, winning the Award  for the first time in his career

4. MTV Europe Music Award

Amongst the notable awards lost by Davido is the MTV Europe Music Awards. However, he later became a recipient of the award after his crazy international run with “If’ and “Fall” in 2017. But before that, Davido lost his first-ever nomination for the MTV Europe Music Award for the Best African Act category in 2014.

5. World Music Awards

In 2014, Davido was nominated for lots of awards including the World Music Awards, Unfortunately, he lost all the nominations. Like the recent Grammy award, he was also nominated in three categories: the World’s Best Male Artist, the World’s Best Live Act, and the World’s Best Entertainer of the Year.
