It is no news that the popular social media influencer and a one-time prominent actress, Lizzy Anjorin has been all over social media recently for stealing gold and making a fake transfer in Tom Jones, a well-known market hub for inexpensive stones and wedding materials in the Lagos Island. Who is Lizzy Anjorin?
Elizabeth Aishat Anjorin, known as Lizzy Anjorin is a Nigerian Yoruba Actress, movie producer, business mogul, Realtor, and land and Property dealer. She was born on April 4, 1976, in Badagry Lagos State. She had her tertiary education at the prestigious Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye which started in 2003 but dropped out because of her acting career.
However, in 2017, she finished her education and graduated with a BSc in Transport Planning and Management in the same school. As an actress, Lizzy Anjorin featured in numerous movies and dominated the Nollywood screen in the 2000s. She was one of the most successful Yoruba actresses, of Nigeria’s home video era, winning multiple awards for some of her roles in movies.
Lizzy Anjorin was a single mother of one until she met her new husband Mr Lateef Adegboyega Lawal to whom she got married in July 2020. She converted from Christianity to Islam and adopted the name Aishat. In 2o21, She had another child with her new husband.

Lizzy Anjorin seemed to have been AWOL from the internet since her mother died in 2013 except for a few times she sparks up controversies. Her name began to ring in the ears in 2020 after she married her new husband. Several controversies have been named with her alongside allegations leveled against her. Lizzy is known to aggressively defend herself and attack whoever comes against her. Written below are some of the controversies and allegations against her.
Lizzy Anjorin and Fola Tinubu-the ex-wife of Lateef Lawal
A few months after settling down to married life, controversies arose about Lizzy Anjorin’s husband’s past life. Fola Tinubu, one of his ex-wives, accused Lateef of abandonment. She also claimed that the actress snatched her husband and turned him against her. As a result, she ran into debt and has been unable to feed their three children.
Fola emphasized that Lateef has severed ties with her, blocked all access to him, and refused to send money to her for their children’s upkeep. She pleaded with Nigerians on social media to come to her aid as she wished to keep her head above water and adequately cater for the children her husband abandoned.
Following this confrontation, Lizzy Anjorin rose in defense of her husband and to clear her name by stating that Fola Tinubu was never married to her husband. She added that since there was no marriage with her, there was nothing like her snatching her. She expressed the bond of friendship that she had with Lateef Lawal before they finally decided to settle done together.
Lizzy Anjorin renounces Islam
In a video in August 2023, Lizzy took to her page to caution her followers not to associate her with Islam anymore but should freely call her by her traditional title Yeye Mesho. It should be remembered that the Yoruba actress following her conversion from Christianity to Islam was given the Islamic title of Borokini Iya Adinni. However, she renounced the religion stating that none of the Muslims supported or defended her when she was bullied and thrilled online and stated that she should not be associated with any religion where other Faithful cannot support her.
Lizzy Anjorin and Iyabo Ojo
Iyabo Ojo and Lizzy Anjorin have been rendering the media space agog as they drag themselves on their various social media pages through various posts and videos. However, toward the end of 2023, Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo filed a legal suit against Lizzy Anjorin accusing her of posting defamatory video publications on her social media pages.
According to Iyabo Ojo’s Lawyers, Lizzy Anjorin alleged that the actress was involved in a threesome with her daughter, referred to her as ‘sepereti’, a prost*tute and a murderer who killed the late Nigerian singer, Mohbad.
The lawyers demanded that Lizzy publish an apology in four national newspapers and tender an apology on her Facebook and Instagram pages. A total amount of N500 million is demanded from Lizzy to pay as damages to Iyabo, adding that if she failed to adhere to it within the stipulated given to her, they would press a criminal charge against her.
Lizzy Anjorin and Toyin Abraham
A serious feud has been going on between Lizzy Anjorin and her colleague, Toyin Abraham for some years. Known for her controversial nature, Lizzy Anjorin had accused Abraham of sponsoring a post against her by a blogger and also disguising herself as a fan to taint her image. She therefore took to her Instagram page to rain insults on Toyin. She also said Toyin fed the blog a fake story about her being arrested on her way to Saudi Arabia for carrying cocaine which is not true.
However, in 2019, the fight between the two became more intense after Toyin Abraham’s fans called Lizzy out for not congratulating Toyin when she gave birth. Lizzy reacted to this by attacking Toyin, stating that she did not caution her fans while they made derogatory remarks about her. Toyin Abraham denied the allegations and took legal action against her.
The Feud finally ended with the intervention of Mama Esabod, after the attempt to resolve the fight by The President of the Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN), Bolaji Amusan, popularly known as Mr. Latin failed.
Lizzy Anjorin allegedly steals gold
Nollywood actress Lizzy Anjorin has been found wrapped in a controversy over allegations of gold theft. A video posted by a popular blogger, Gist Lover on Monday, February 5, 2024, showed Anjorin amid a heated exchange at a store, where she is seen defending herself against the allegations while attempting to obstruct the recording of the incident. The controversy is said to have happened in Tom Jones, a well-known market hub for inexpensive stones and wedding materials in the Lagos Island area.
This video has garnered attention and has sparked reactions and discussions on social media. Lizzy Anjorin has reacted to the allegations by claiming that she was set up and framed by a famous actress which is left to the guesses of the public. She explained that the issue stemmed from a failed transfer of N91,000 for accessories she had previously purchased at the market which caused a crowd to gather, people started videoing her and accusing her of making a fake transfer. The public however awaits the truth as the controversy unfolds.
