The renowned music competition of all time in Nigeria is back again-Nigeria Idol. The 2024 edition, Season 9 of Nigeria Idol premiered on Sunday, 21st April 2024. The theme of Nigerian Idol Season 9 is “Let your dreams take flight”,  Having enjoyed their time across the previous seasons, audiences are thrilled as the show premieres. Change of Judges

The new edition has sparked the audiences’ attention with what seemed like a twist. The music personalities who were judges in the former edition have been changed as the new edition presents a set of new judges. Simi, Dbanj, and Obi Asika have paved the way for the new judges. The music experts introduced in the new edition are Omawumi Megbele popularly known as Omawumi, Abolore Akande widely known as 9ice, and Ikechuckwu Eric Ahiauza popularly known as Ric Hassani. These new sets of judges are ready to bring their uniqueness from their expertise in various genres to the judging panel. Their contributions indeed will leave an engraved impression on the music Industry. At the same time, it will shape the careers of upcoming artists as they proceed in their musical journey.

The Cash prize for the Winner

The winner of the 2024 Nigerian Idol Season 9 stands a chance to win N30 million and more. The judges given their track record of expertise in the music world, are faced with the daunting prospect of choosing 50 talented singers. These singers will be made to face the viewing public who will decide, in a series of live shows, who most deserves the chance of stardom. These 50 lucky ones, will be given tasks to prove that they have what it takes to be declared a winner. How the show works

Nigerian Idol often starts with open auditions.  At this stage, a call for entry is deployed, and singers from all over Nigeria with big dreams and even bigger voices audition in front of a panel of renowned judges in the music industry. Following this stage is the theatre round where successful auditionees showcase their talent through group and solo performances, with the judges carefully selecting the best singers to move forward.

The competition heats up in the semi-finals and during the live shows as the remaining contestants perform live every week, with viewers voting to keep their favorites in the running. This builds up to the grand finale where the top two finalists battle it out in a spectacular live show, and the winner is crowned based on how the audience vote.
