But this year, Nigerian Afrobeats artists Burna Boy, ASAKE, Davido, and Ayra Star are standing out in particular: all four of them received nominations. In the Best African Music Performance category, Ayra Starr was nominated for her global smash song “Rush.”
Burna Boy
Burna Boy was nominated for four awards: Best Global Music Performance, Best Melodic Rap Performance (for “Sittin’ On Top Of The World”), Best Global Music Performance (for “Alone”), and Best African Music Performance (for “City Boys”).
Fireboy
Due to his contribution to Jon Batiste’s “World Music Radio,” Fireboy DML was nominated for Album of the Year.
Olamide
Olamide received his first-ever Grammy nomination for collaborating with Asake “Amapiano” in Best African Music Performance.
Asake
For Olamide and Asake’s Collaboration “Amapiano,” Asake was nominated for their first-ever Grammy in the Best African Music Performance category.
Ckay
For his work on Janelle Monáe’s “The Age of Pleasure,” which was nominated for Album of the Year, CKay received a Grammy nomination.

Seun Kuti
