Nigerian entertainers are talented people and the skit makers are not excluded. In this post, RNN discusses 10 Nigerian skit makers who went into music. For different reasons, these talented skit-makers/comedians have chosen to do music alongside their skit-making career.

1. Nas Boi

Lawal Michael Nasiru Bolaji (born March 13, 1992 ) is professionally known as Nas Boi. He is a native of Odo Otin Local Government in Osun State but was raised in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. Nasboi became famous for mimicking music star, Davido in his skits. This earned him the nickname “low-budget OBO”.

He started doing skits after several years of trying to make it with music and he couldn’t hit the stars with it. The “umbrella” song crooner has however started living his dream of making good music. This makes him one of the Nigerian skit makers that went into music. Aside from comedy and music, Nasboi is also an actor who has featured in blockbuster movies, including Lockdown in 2021 and Passport in 2022.

2. Carter Efe

Oderhohwo Joseph “Carter” Efe (born 29 September 1995) is a Nigerian skit maker and singer. Carter Efe started with skit making in 2019 but he has also gained worldwide recognition with the release of his hit song, Machala (featuring Berri Tiga), which earned him 14th position of 50 on the Afrobeats charts US Billboards, made its debut in 1st and 2nd positions on Apple Music Nigeria Top 100 and TurnTable Nigeria Top 100 respectively. He has a couple of singles and featured music to his name.

3. Broda Shaggi

Samuel Animashaun Perry ( born July 6, 1993 ) popularly known as Broda Shaggi is a Nigerian comedian, actor, songwriter and musician. He is a native of Sagamu in Ogun State but was born in Ikenne in Ogun State. Broda Shaggi is a graduate of Creative Arts from the University of Lagos.

Broda Shaggi first gained popularity on social media platforms like Instagram, where he posted short comedy skits. His online fame led to opportunities in Nollywood, Nigeria’s film industry, where he has featured in several movies and TV shows. He has also released music, including the hit song “Oya Hit Me,” which features a fusion of Afrobeat and Fuji music.

4. Emma OMG

Emmanuel Edunjobi (born May 3rd) popularly known as Emma OMG, rose to fame with music comedy and he has been consistent in dishing out music comedy content to his fans year-in-year-out. Emma Oh my God is very talented as he’s not only a Nigerian skit maker and comedian but also a Multi-instrumentalist, Content Creator, YouTuber (Vlogger), Event Compere, TV/Radio Presenter, Actor, Producer and Gospel Music Artiste.

Emma OMG is musically gifted that he could create a dramatic dialogue with music delivery. This is evident in his ongoing series titled “EmmaOMG Highlife series” and “Faaji Friday 4.0”.

5. Taaooma

Maryam Apaokagi (born 28 February 1999)popularly known as Taaooma is a Nigerian comedian, content creator, musician cinematographer, and social media influencer. She currently serves as the CEO, and founder of Chop Tao, a food company, and directs for The Greenade Company, a cinematography firm.

She is known for playing multiple roles in her skits. Her comedy skits are centred on exposing African mothers and their unique manner of disciplining African children with a slap.

It will interest fans to know that Taaooma does not only engage in skit-making comedy alone but also does some good music on the line. According to her, she felt it would be better to use her songs in her skits instead of using songs by other musicians.

6. Kenny Blaq

Otolorin Kehinde Peter (born September 30, 1992) professionally known as Kenny Blaq, is a Nigerian stand-up comedian and singer. He performed at the 2nd edition of Unlock Naija Independence celebration and Africa Magic Owambe Finale.

7. Twyse Ereme

Ereme Abraham (born July 28, 1992), better known as Twyse is a Nigerian skit maker and actor. He is best known for acting in many roles in his comedy skits. Apart from doing skits and comedy, Twyse is also a singer. He records his songs in his leisure time.

8. Josh2Funny

Chibuike Joshua Alfred (born 18 December 1990) professionally known as Josh2Funny, is a Nigerian skit maker, actor and musician. Josh was born in Anambra State and he moved to Lagos with his parents when he was eight years old. He shot into the limelight when his skit #DontLeaveMe went viral. He went viral again from playing the trick of #fastest reader in the world at America’s Got Talent.

9. Akikalmd

Ola Akika LMD popularly known as Akikalmd, is a Nigerian skit maker and rapper. He came to the limelight after one of his comedy skits went viral on Instagram. He is famous for his Yoruba slang, Yasin Ko Funny Na. Akikalmd music includes Tribute to Mohbad, Better Than Your Ex and more.

10. OGB Recent

Micheal Charles(born September 2, 1997) popularly known as OGB Recent on social media is a Nigerian skit maker. Since venturing into comedy, OGB has created a world for himself within the Nigerian entertainment scene. He has recorded several viral skits that have impacted his growth and popularity in the entertainment industry.
