Senator Francis Fadahunsi, representing Osun East Senatorial District, has arrived at the Osun State Police Command headquarters in Osogbo for questioning over a viral video in which he allegedly made inciting remarks about Accord Party members.

Fadahunsi arrived at about 2:35 p.m. on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, in the company of the Commissioner of Police in charge of election and security, Samuel Erale.

Police Invite Senator

The police had invited the All Progressives Congress (APC) lawmaker in a letter dated August 11, directing him to report to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Osogbo.

The invitation followed remarks Fadahunsi allegedly made while addressing APC supporters during a campaign event in Ilesa.

In the widely circulated video, the senator was heard telling supporters to “kill” members of the Accord Party if they encountered them.

The comments drew widespread condemnation as political tensions increased ahead of the August 15 Osun governorship election.

Fadahunsi Explains Remark

Fadahunsi later denied calling for physical violence, saying his comments were political and metaphorical.

He explained that he meant supporters should “kill Accord with votes” by defeating the party at the ballot box rather than attacking its members.

His clarification followed calls for security agencies to investigate the remarks and ensure that political actors do not incite violence ahead of the election.

Police Raise Security Concerns

The invitation comes amid heightened political tension across Osun State, with security agencies warning politicians and their supporters against inflammatory statements.

Police authorities have described the viral video as a serious concern and reiterated their commitment to neutrality, public order and the protection of voters during the election.
