Senator Francis Adenigba Ade Fadahunsi, representing Osun East Senatorial District, has faced widespread condemnation after a viral video allegedly showed him calling on supporters to kill Accord Party members ahead of the August 15, 2026 Osun governorship election.
The senator was addressing supporters in Yoruba in Ilesa, Osun State, when the remarks were made, according to reports and translations of the video circulated online.
Fadahunsi Allegedly Calls for Violence
Multiple translations of the footage published by Nigerian media outlets attributed the senator to remarks directing supporters to kill members of the Accord Party before election day.
One widely circulated translation quotes him as saying: “From now on, whenever you see Accord members, kill them. I authorise you to kill them.”
Other translations similarly reported that he referred to Accord supporters and their families and allegedly instructed supporters to prevent them from voting, even if they presented voter cards.
The video also reportedly contained references to identifying Accord supporters by their yellow caps and allegations of previous killings involving APC supporters.
Video Triggers Calls for Action
The footage was amplified by several social media accounts, including the Adeleke Youth Development Initiative, which tagged security agencies and called for intervention.
Afrobeats singer Davido also shared the video, further increasing its reach online.
The remarks have triggered calls for the senator to be investigated over alleged incitement to violence and voter suppression.
Adeleke Campaign Demands Arrest
The Imole Campaign Council, supporting Osun Governor Ademola Adeleke, condemned the reported remarks as an alleged open incitement to violence.
The campaign body called for Fadahunsi’s arrest and urged security agencies to act, while calling on voters and political actors to remain peaceful ahead of the election.
The development comes amid reports of clashes and deaths in parts of Osun, particularly around the Ilesa area, heightening concerns over possible violence during the election.
Senator Yet to Respond
Fadahunsi, a former Customs official and former PDP member who later joined the APC, was reportedly speaking during a visit or protest at the palace of the Owa Obokun of Ijesaland over alleged killings of APC supporters.
As of August 11, no widely published statement from Fadahunsi or the APC had confirmed, denied or provided context for the specific remarks attributed to him in the video.
The Osun governorship election is scheduled for August 15, with Adeleke contesting under the Accord Party against APC candidate Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji and candidates from other parties.
