A video circulating on social media shows a group of men in Kano State complaining about receiving ₦3,000 each for attending an APC campaign event, with some threatening to stay away from future activities if the payment remains unchanged.
The men, dressed in yellow polo shirts branded “Turakin Rano 2027” and bearing the All Progressives Congress (APC) logo, made the complaint in a video shared widely on Monday, September 7, 2026.
Residents Complain About Payment
One of the men, speaking on behalf of the group, said the ₦3,000 payment was inadequate, particularly for participants who spent money to travel to the campaign venue.
He said some attendees had borrowed money to cover their transportation costs and warned that they would stop attending APC campaign activities if they continued receiving only ₦3,000.
Campaign Attire Linked to Turakin Rano
The shirts worn by the participants carry references to “Turakin Rano 2027”, a title associated with Kabiru Alhassan Rurum, a former Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly and federal lawmaker representing the Rano/Bunkure/Kibiya constituency.
Rurum has been involved in APC-related political activities in Kano as political parties and their support groups begin preparations for the 2027 general elections.
The video was also shared by social media accounts including Instablog9ja, drawing attention to the residents’ complaints.
2027 Mobilisation Draws Grassroots Complaints
The development comes amid increased political mobilisation across Nigeria ahead of the 2027 elections. Similar reports and videos involving supporters complaining about payments for political mobilisation have surfaced in other locations in recent weeks.
Kano remains an important political battleground, with the APC working to strengthen its structure and attract political support amid ongoing realignments involving Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and other political figures.
