Martins Vincent Otse popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM) is a Nigerian influencer and Social commentator, popularly known for his controversial stance against bleaching creams vendors on Instagram in 2023. He has since then become one of the biggest internet and controversial personalities in the Nigerian internet space. Here is how he rose to fame, the successes he acquired along the way, and the controversies surrounding his internet career.
Rise To Fame
Verydarkman started his media journey in early 2020 by posting videos on TikTok. His rise to fame is linked to the controversy between the skincare vendor who arrested one of her clients for calling her out and accusing her brand of spoiling her skin.
In his activist spirit, Verydarkman, who was at that time just rising into prominence tackled the skincare vendor, the brand owner of Jenny’s Glow. He challenged the authenticity of her products and went as far as launching an investigation into the brand for allegedly selling products without a NAFDAC number.
The investigation finally reveals that Jenny’s Glow products are not registered with the  National Agency of Food and Drug Administration and Control. Fortunately, this situation seemed to be a turnaround for his life as an influencer followers grew in numbers on Instagram as many people supported his dauntless stance.
Another major thing that contributed to his popularity was when a collection of his private photos and videos were been publicly circulated on the internet in September 2023. He openly acknowledged selling them as a means to navigate the challenging economic conditions brought about by the COVID-19 lockdown in 2020.
His success
Amidst several backlashes and name-calling in the media journey of this young man, it is noteworthy to say that there are some successes attributed to his name. Verydarkman’s dark man’s successful disclosure of the unregistered products of a skincare brand and his impact on the skincare industry cannot be overlooked.
In late 2023, Very Drak Man began to speak about the death of Nigerian singer, Mohbad. He alongside many other netizens championed Justice regarding the deaths of the late Nigerian Singer. He however goofed when he requested that a DNA test be conducted on the late musician’s son to confirm the perternity.
Amid all these events, Very Dark Man then caught the attention of popular blogger Tunde Ednut, who kept sharing his videos until he was noticed by top singer Davido who followed him on social media and even flew the Abuja-based TikToker to Lagos to have a good time.
Afterward, VeryDarkMan spoke about veteran actor Mr. Ibu’s health status and enjoined people in the Nollywood industry to show him love and support. His intervention in the matter led to enormous contributions to Mr. Ibu’s deteriorating health status.
 Verydarkman’s Controversies
It should not be forgotten that VeryDarkMan is a controversial activist therefore, it is highly expected that many controversial issues would no doubt have his name on them.
Recently, Verydarkman dragged two Nigerian celebrities, Tonto Dikeh, and Iyabo Ojo. challenging their motives for gaining justice for the late Nigerian Singer, Mohbad.He accused them that their fight for the late singer was beyond getting justice for him, adding that they weren’t primarily interested in getting justice for the late musician.
However, Tonto Dikeh took the matter up and arrested him. Soon after his release from the police station, he made a video claiming Tonto Dikeh is trying to take his life and many of his contacts are advising him to either run away or hide in a safe place. His accusation was backed up by a screenshot of Tonto Dikeh’s post on her page which the young man claimed that the post was directed at him.
Also recently, VDMÂ clashed with the BBNaija star, Pere Egbi who he had earlier claimed to to boast that he is more attractive than him but in an interview, Pere denied knowing who he was. Verydarkman with a screenshot of Pere’s message to him late last year defended what he had said earlier and warned the star to not say things that downplay his integrity. He further stated that they are not on the same level.
Other celebrities he has clashed with are, Phyna, Blessing CEO, Sabinus, and several others.
