Toke Makinwa Says She’ll End Relationship If a Man Ever Asks Her for Money

Media personality and podcaster Toke Makinwa has said she has never dated a man who asked her for money, declaring that any relationship where a partner seeks financial support from her would end immediately.

She made the remarks during a recent episode of Toke Moments, which featured reality TV star Mercy Eke, while discussing finances and gender roles in relationships.

“Men Don’t Ask Me for Money”

Makinwa said she often hears women share experiences of financially supporting their partners but admitted she could not relate.

“When I hear women say these things, I sit down and ask myself, why don’t men ask me for money? Men don’t ask me for money,” she said.

She jokingly suggested that the way she talks about her own challenges might discourage men from making such requests.

“Maybe there is something on my head. Maybe because before you ask me, I’m already giving you all my problems? As soon as you say, ‘How are you?’ I’m already saying, ‘Today I have a headache.’ Maybe that’s why.”

Views on Dating Broke Men

Makinwa also revealed that even when she dated men who were not financially buoyant, they never asked her for money.

“I’ve never dated a guy who has ever asked me for money. Even if I date a broke guy, he earns 5K, at least 3K out of that money he’ll give it to me,” she said.

She added that she considers asking a partner for money a deal breaker.

“I’m thankful for that grace because I’ve never, ever dated a guy that has confidently asked me for money. The day you do, you’ll never hear from me again.”

Her comments have generated reactions online, with social media users debating expectations around financial responsibility and support in relationships.
