Nigerian life coach and relationship commentator Solomon Buchi has described his recent report to the Metropolitan Police against TikTok streamer Habeeb Hamzat, popularly known as Peller, as “banter” intended to highlight how systems operate in the United Kingdom.
Buchi, who is based in the UK, made the clarification in a video circulating on social media on Sunday, September 6, 2026, amid ongoing reactions to the controversy.
Buchi Explains Police Report
Buchi said the report was not primarily intended to have Peller arrested but was meant to demonstrate to Nigerians that institutions in the UK respond to complaints.
He said he wanted to show Nigerians “that things work here in the UK” while explaining that there is a difference between criticism, defamation and slander.
Buchi also advised people to consult lawyers when dealing with potentially defamatory statements rather than assuming every form of criticism amounts to defamation.
Controversy Started With Peller’s Comment
The controversy began after Peller, who was in the UK, made comments during a livestream about a “Mr Buchi” who allegedly slept with another person’s wife and was “not a better person.”
Buchi interpreted the comments as referring to him and said the allegation was false and damaging, particularly because he is married. He said the incident affected him severely and that his general practitioner documented what he described as a nervous breakdown.
He subsequently reported the matter to the Metropolitan Police.
Peller Clarifies Who He Meant
Peller later said he was referring to a fan with whom he had been engaging in online banter rather than Solomon Buchi.
“Is he the only Buchi in the world?” Peller asked while clarifying his earlier comments.
Following the clarification, Buchi said he was relieved and had no further concerns, adding that he had been discharged by his doctors.
Buchi Warns Peller
During the same video, Buchi also advised Peller to be cautious about a person he identified as Pastor Tobi, referring to Tobi Adegboyega.
He also responded to socialite Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, who had criticised his police report and accused him of seeking engagement.
Chief Priest had also threatened to “send lawyers like shooters” in response to the matter.
Buchi referenced an alleged unresolved family dispute involving Chief Priest, a child and a woman identified as Hellen in Kenya while responding to the socialite’s comments.
No official confirmation of police action against Peller or further legal proceedings had been widely reported as of September 6, 2026.
