National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate Peter Obi on Friday visited businessman Prince Isaac Fayose at his residence in Lagos, where the businessman reaffirmed his support for Obi despite recent controversies surrounding his political stance.
The visit came months after Fayose lost his wife to cancer and weeks after he faced criticism from some Obi supporters over his meeting with Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu.
“I’m 100% Obidient”
During the meeting, Fayose dismissed claims that he had abandoned Obi, insisting that his support for the former Anambra State governor remains unchanged.
“For those abusing me, I’m 100% Obidient,” Fayose said in a video from the visit that has circulated widely on social media.
He maintained that his loyalty to Obi and the NDC presidential candidate had never wavered despite the backlash he received online.
Recent Controversy
Fayose had recently come under criticism after a video showed him praying with Seyi Tinubu. The development triggered reactions from some Obi supporters, who questioned his commitment to the opposition.
He had also publicly expressed disappointment that Obi had not personally acknowledged the support he gave during the 2023 presidential campaign.
Friday’s visit appeared to ease those tensions, with both men seen exchanging pleasantries in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
Condolence Visit
The meeting was also understood to be a condolence visit following the death of Fayose’s wife earlier this year after a prolonged battle with cancer.
On the same day, Obi also visited former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi to condole with him over the passing of his mother.
The visit has attracted positive reactions from many supporters, who described it as a gesture of reconciliation, appreciation and solidarity.
