APC governorship candidate Bola Oyebamiji, popularly known as AMBO, has taken a direct swipe at Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke’s dancing habit, declaring that “it’s time for work” ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.
Oyebamiji spoke on Thursday, August 13, 2026, at the APC mega rally at Freedom Park in Osogbo, held on the final day of official campaigns before the August 15 poll.
Oyebamiji Targets Adeleke’s Dancing
Addressing a large crowd of supporters and APC leaders, Oyebamiji said governance should focus on delivering results rather than entertainment.
“Governance is not about dancing. No more dancing in Osun. It’s time for work. It is a serious business and this is not a theatre,” he said.
He added that his administration would focus on improving the lives of residents, saying, “I have a pact and a mandate with you and that mandate is to touch the lives of the people.”
The remarks were widely understood as a reference to Adeleke, who has become known for dancing at public events.
APC Leaders Rally Behind Oyebamiji
The final APC rally attracted several party leaders and governors, including Senate President Godswill Akpabio, representing President Bola Tinubu; APC National Chairman Professor Nentawe Yilwatda; Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma; Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu; Senator Adams Oshiomhole and former Osun Governor Bisi Akande.
Yilwatda formally presented the APC flag and broom to Oyebamiji as the party made its final major push before the election.
Akpabio urged Osun voters to “link Osun State to the centre,” arguing that doing so would improve access to federal support and development.
Accord Faction Endorses APC Candidate
A major moment at the rally came when Prof. Christopher Imumolen, described as a factional National Chairman of the Accord Party, appeared at the event and endorsed Oyebamiji.
Imumolen said the faction’s National Working Committee had resolved to withdraw its support for Adeleke and directed its members to vote for the APC candidate.
The endorsement gives the APC another talking point as it seeks to unseat Adeleke and return Osun to its control.
Election Holds Saturday
The APC leaders also called on supporters to turn out in large numbers while maintaining peace during the election.
The Osun governorship election is scheduled for Saturday, August 15, with Adeleke of the Accord Party seeking another term against Oyebamiji and candidates from other political parties.
The contest has been marked by intense political exchanges, including repeated arguments over Adeleke’s dancing and concerns about security ahead of voting.
