NDLEA Arrests “KC Luxury” After Seizing 184.5kg Cocaine Worth ₦39bn

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested social media influencer and luxury goods dealer Afolabi Kazeem Michael, popularly known as “KC Luxury,” after intercepting 184.5kg of cocaine allegedly linked to an international trafficking cartel.

NDLEA Chairman, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (rtd.), disclosed the operation during a press briefing in Lagos on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, describing it as the agency’s largest cocaine seizure through a courier company in Nigeria.

NDLEA Intercepts ₦39bn Cocaine Shipment

The investigation began after NDLEA operatives intercepted a 184.50kg cocaine consignment being prepared for export through a courier logistics company in Lagos.

According to Marwa, the shipment could have generated about ₦39 billion, or approximately $27.7 million, through the cartel’s international distribution network.

The agency subsequently established a Special Investigation Team to trace those behind the shipment. Working with the courier company, operatives identified intermediary companies and individuals allegedly involved in processing and moving the consignments.

“KC Luxury” Arrested at Airport

NDLEA identified Lawal Mujab Kehinde, a logistics company employee, as one of the suspects. He was allegedly responsible for packaging and processing consignments destined for the United Kingdom, Europe and Asia in exchange for payments.

The agency also identified Michael, known online as “KC Luxury”, as the alleged Nigerian arrowhead of the cartel.

NDLEA said Michael presented himself publicly as a social media influencer and businessman involved in gold, jewellery and luxury goods, but investigators alleged that the image was used to conceal a cocaine trafficking operation.

He was arrested on August 13 at the boarding gate of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, after intelligence indicated that he planned to leave Nigeria on a business-class flight to Paris.

Cash, Jewellery, Exotic Cars Recovered

According to the agency, Michael was found with €7,750, £2,800 and ₦100,000 in cash, alongside expensive jewellery.

NDLEA operatives later searched his luxury apartment in Banana Island, Ikoyi, where they recovered exotic vehicles.

Marwa said the cartel allegedly used false identities to conceal the origin of shipments and relied on financial facilitators to move large sums of money.

He added that some members of the syndicate in the United Kingdom had also been arrested by British authorities.

Marwa Warns Traffickers

Marwa warned drug traffickers who use social media and luxury lifestyles to disguise their activities that the agency would continue tracking them.

“To those who believe they can hide behind luxury brands, glamorous lifestyles, and social media personas while trafficking poison into our communities and across our borders, this Agency will find you,” he said.

He added that traffickers could be tracked “to the departure gate” regardless of their wealth, connections or attempts to flee the country.

The NDLEA chairman also said trafficking networks were increasingly turning to courier and logistics companies because they viewed the channels as easier routes for moving narcotics.

The agency said investigations into the cartel are continuing. Michael has not publicly commented on the allegations and had not been charged in court at the time of initial reports.
