Biography

Tatum was born on March 3, 1998 in St. Louis, Missouri. His dad, Justin Tatum, played basketball and teaches at Christian Brothers College High School. His mom, Brandy Cole, is a lawyer. Tatum’s godfather is ex-NBA player Larry Hughes, and he’s related to current NBA coach Tyronn Lue.

Tatum went to Chaminade College Prep in Missouri. In his freshman year, he averaged 13.3 points and 6.4 rebounds, winning awards. In his sophomore year, he had 26.0 points and 11.0 rebounds per game.

As a junior, he averaged 25.9 points, 11.7 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game, getting recognized as a Second-team Naismith Trophy All-American. In the summer of 2015, he played for the St. Louis Eagles AAU team.
