Isaac Fayose Links Ayo Fayose’s REA Appointment to Peter Obi’s Visit

Businessman Isaac Fayose has jokingly suggested that the appointment of his elder brother, former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose, as Chairman of the Board of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) was influenced by Peter Obi’s recent visit to him. The remark followed President Bola Tinubu’s announcement of fresh appointments into several federal agencies.

Isaac Fayose Reacts

In a video circulating on social media, Isaac Fayose humorously linked the appointment to Obi’s visit, saying, “They gave my brother a DG appointment because Peter Obi came to visit me.”

He made the comment while speaking directly to the camera in what appeared to be a light-hearted reaction to the development.

Ayo Fayose’s Appointment

President Tinubu announced Ayo Fayose’s appointment on Sunday as part of a list of 26 appointments across 10 federal agencies.

The former Ekiti governor was named Chairman of the Board of the Rural Electrification Agency alongside other board members appointed to oversee the agency’s operations.

Peter Obi’s Recent Visit

The joke comes days after former Labour Party presidential candidate, now NDC presidential candidate, Peter Obi visited Isaac Fayose.

During the visit, Isaac Fayose reaffirmed his support for Obi and described him as “our incoming president.” The meeting came after he faced criticism from some Obi supporters over his interactions with Seyi Tinubu.

Isaac Fayose had also publicly said his brother was “too big” for the REA board chairmanship, considering his experience as a two-term governor.

Mixed Reactions Online

The video has generated mixed reactions on social media. While some Nigerians dismissed the comment as harmless political humour, others debated whether the timing of the appointment was merely coincidental.

Neither the Presidency nor Ayo Fayose has responded to Isaac Fayose’s remarks.
