Isaac Fayose, social commentator and younger brother of former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose, has alleged that the All Progressives Congress (APC) used an armoured vehicle to move ballot boxes during the Osun State governorship election on Saturday, August 15, 2026.
Fayose made the allegation in a video circulated on social media as voting and result collation continued across the state, accusing the APC of desperation while praising residents he said resisted attempts to interfere with the election.
Fayose Makes Ballot Box Allegation
In the roughly three-minute video, Fayose said, “APC’s desperation is so disheartening. Look at this video; they are using an armoured vehicle to carry ballot boxes.”
He also claimed that police armoured vehicles were involved in attempts to move ballot boxes, describing the alleged action as unacceptable.
Fayose compared the situation with the June 2026 Ekiti governorship election and praised Osun residents for what he described as resistance to electoral interference.
Osun Election Records Pockets of Violence
The allegation came amid reports of isolated incidents during the Osun election, including alleged attempts to snatch ballot boxes, clashes around some polling units and disruptions at certain locations.
Security agencies deployed heavily across the state, with armoured personnel carriers and other security vehicles visible at polling and collation locations. However, the presence of such vehicles does not by itself establish that they were being used by APC officials to seize ballot boxes.
No independent evidence confirming Fayose’s specific allegation that APC operatives used an armoured vehicle to seize or transport ballot boxes was immediately available.
Adeleke Maintains Lead in Provisional Results
The allegation also circulated as provisional results from the Independent National Electoral Commission’s Result Viewing Portal showed incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party maintaining a lead over APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji.
The figures remained provisional, with results still being uploaded and collated across the state. The official winner can only be declared by INEC’s Returning Officer after the completion of the collation process.
Fayose’s comments have since added to the political debate surrounding the Osun governorship election, with supporters of different parties sharing competing claims about the conduct of the poll.
