  • Sola Kuti Compares Peter Obi to Buhari, Says Nigeria’s Problem Is the System

Media personality Sola Kuti has argued that Nigeria’s political and economic problems are driven more by structural issues than by the individuals elected into public office.

Speaking during a discussion on national politics, Kuti cautioned Nigerians against believing that a change of leadership alone would automatically solve the country’s challenges.

Comparison Between Peter Obi and Buhari

Kuti said the enthusiasm currently surrounding Peter Obi reminds him of the optimism many Nigerians expressed before Muhammadu Buhari assumed office in 2015.

According to him, Buhari was widely viewed as a leader who would tackle corruption and address governance failures, but many of those expectations were not realised.

“Peter Obi, for me, is just another Buhari,” Kuti said.

Focus on the System, Not Individuals

The media personality maintained that Nigeria’s biggest obstacle is its governance structure, which he described as deeply flawed.

He argued that even leaders with good intentions often struggle to deliver meaningful reforms because of institutional and systemic limitations.

“The point that I’m trying to make is that if the system is broken, there’s nothing you can do when you get there,” he said.

Kuti added that Nigerians often focus too much on personalities while ignoring the structural problems affecting governance.

    Lessons From Buhari’s Presidency

Referencing Buhari’s years in office, Kuti said the former president’s experience demonstrates how difficult it is for any leader to succeed within a dysfunctional system.

He noted that despite his personal reservations about Buhari, he was surprised by how little was achieved compared to the expectations many Nigerians had.

“No matter how much I didn’t like Buhari, I realized that a soul like him with such principles, in quotes, could go into government and achieve absolutely nothing,” he stated.

    Call for Institutional Reforms

Kuti concluded that Nigeria’s future depends more on fixing its institutions than on changing political leaders.

According to him, sustainable progress will require reforms that strengthen governance structures and reduce the constraints that often limit elected officials.

The honour was first announced in the King’s 2026 New Year Honours list and became official during Tuesday’s investiture ceremony.

The recognition was awarded for Elba’s services to young people and his work promoting positive opportunities for vulnerable communities.

    Commitment to Youth Development

    Longstanding Connection to Royal Initiatives

  • Bellak Comedy Urges BBNaija Organisers to Delay Season 11 Over Economic Hardship

Nigerian comedian Bellak Comedy has called on organisers of Big Brother Naija to postpone the reality show’s 11th season, arguing that many Nigerians are struggling with economic hardship and mental health challenges.

The comedian made the appeal in a video shared online on June 2, 2026, which has since generated widespread reactions on social media.

    Call for Postponement

In the video, Bellak Comedy acknowledged the entertainment value of the reality show but said the current situation in the country requires greater focus on pressing national issues.

“Big Brother Naija, I want to thank you for entertaining Nigerians, but at this point, you need to put a stop to it. We are battling with mental health issues due to the current situation in the country, and the show has become a distraction for us,” he said.

He further suggested that the programme should be postponed until after the 2027 general elections.

    Economic Concerns

The comedian linked his appeal to the rising cost of living and economic difficulties facing many Nigerians.

His comments come at a time when concerns over inflation, food prices, insecurity and household expenses continue to dominate public discourse despite government efforts aimed at stabilising the economy.

Bellak Comedy is known for using comedy and social commentary to address everyday challenges affecting Nigerians.

    Mixed Reactions Online

The video has drawn mixed reactions from social media users.

Some supporters agreed with his position, arguing that reality television can distract citizens from holding leaders accountable and engaging with important national issues.

Others defended the programme, describing it as a legitimate entertainment platform that creates jobs, business opportunities and a source of relaxation for viewers.

Several users also noted that participation in the show remains voluntary and that entertainment programmes should not be blamed for broader governance challenges.

    BBNaija Season 11 Plans

Auditions for Big Brother Naija Season 11 were recently concluded, while the Season 10 reunion is scheduled to begin on June 8.

The new season is expected to premiere later in July 2026, although organisers have not responded publicly to Bellak Comedy’s appeal.

Teddy A made the remarks in a statement shared on his Instagram page, where he questioned the effectiveness of the state government’s security efforts.

    Questions Over Security Funding

The reality television star alleged that Oyo State receives about ₦12 billion annually as a security vote but argued that residents continue to face serious security threats.

According to him, the government has not done enough to guarantee the safety of lives and property despite the resources available for security-related matters.

He also accused the governor of focusing on politics instead of addressing the challenges confronting residents.

    Kidnapping Incident Draws Reactions

Teddy A’s comments come amid growing public concern over the abduction of students and teachers from schools in Oriire Local Government Area on May 15.

The incident has triggered protests and calls for the immediate rescue of the victims, with families and concerned citizens demanding stronger action from authorities.

  • VeryDarkMan Pushes PVC Registration, Calls for Greater Voter Participation

Social media critic Martins Vincent Otse has called on Nigerians to take future elections more seriously, urging citizens to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and actively participate in the democratic process.

Speaking in a video shared online, the activist argued that elected officials should be removed through the ballot box if they fail to meet public expectations.

    Call for Greater Voter Participation

VeryDarkMan said voting remains one of the strongest tools available to citizens seeking change and accountability in governance.

According to him, politicians would become more responsible if they understood that voters were prepared to replace them when they failed to deliver.

“If we can vote President Tinubu out of power, Nigeria will improve by at least 70%. It would send a message that whoever we elect can be removed if they fail to perform,” he said.

    Criticism of Low Voter Registration

The activist also expressed concern over what he described as low voter participation among Nigerians, particularly those who frequently discuss political issues on social media.

He urged citizens to begin encouraging others to register and obtain their PVCs ahead of future elections.

“That alone will make anyone seeking power understand that they must deliver and do the right thing. Everybody should start preaching to everyone to get their voter card, the time is now. Eighty percent of people that talk on social media don’t even have PVC,” he added.

    Debate Over Governance and Accountability

His comments come amid ongoing national conversations about insecurity, economic challenges and public accountability.

While some Nigerians have supported his call for increased voter participation, others have debated his assessment of the current administration and the role elections play in addressing governance concerns.

VeryDarkMan has consistently encouraged greater civic engagement, maintaining that meaningful political change can only be achieved when citizens actively participate in the electoral process.

  • Gospel Singer Adeyinka Alaseyori Calls for Nationwide Prayer Over Rising Insecurity

Gospel singer Adeyinka Alaseyori has called on Nigerians to intensify prayers for the country following recent cases of child kidnappings, as public concern over insecurity continues to grow across Nigeria.

The gospel artiste made the appeal in a message shared online on Sunday, urging citizens to respond to the situation with spiritual unity rather than division or blame.

    Call for National Prayer

Alaseyori said the rising tension and criticism surrounding the handling of abductions should not lead to political disagreements, but rather encourage collective prayer for affected families and security agencies.

According to her, national healing requires spiritual intervention alongside institutional efforts.

“So many people are saying the prayer they are praying is not working, but believe me, prayers are working. Don’t let anybody use you for political whatever. From the president to the last person in Nigeria, we need to pray,” she said.

    Appeal for Empathy and Support

The singer also urged Nigerians to show empathy for security personnel involved in rescue operations, noting the risks they face in efforts to secure abducted victims.

She stressed that prayer should be seen as a complement to government and security responses rather than a replacement.

“Those children are your children. They are my children. You can’t say the president and security personnel are not working. Sometimes they are close, and something just covers their eyes—that’s where prayer comes in,” she added.

    Public Reactions and Ongoing Debate

The debate reflects ongoing national conversations following repeated abductions across parts of the country, including recent incidents that have heightened public anxiety.

As discussions continue, the balance between faith-based appeals and calls for government accountability remains a recurring theme in responses to insecurity in Nigeria.

Videos and announcements shared online  showed the official unveiling of the company, which focuses on vehicle sourcing and automobile dealership services.

Auto Business Begins Operations in Guangzhou

Promotional videos from the launch showed Macavelli inside the company’s office in Guangzhou, interacting with clients and showcasing the dealership’s branding.

The office featured Nigerian and Chinese flags, corporate branding, and a business setting aimed at facilitating direct vehicle imports from Chinese manufacturers to international markets, including Nigeria.

The launch comes amid growing interest among Nigerians in sourcing vehicles directly from overseas markets due to rising automobile prices.

    Connection to VDM Draws Attention

The development quickly attracted attention because of Macavelli’s relationship with VeryDarkMan, who has built a large following through activism and social commentary.

Some social media users linked the launch to the Martins Vincent Otse Initiative (MVOI), a non-governmental organisation established by the activist and funded through public donations.

Critics questioned whether any funds connected to the organisation were used to support the business venture.

    Supporters Defend Business Move

Supporters, however, dismissed the allegations, arguing that there is no evidence linking MVOI funds to the dealership.

They maintained that the business represents a separate family investment and pointed to VeryDarkMan’s earnings from content creation, brand influence, and other disclosed ventures.

Others argued that entrepreneurship should not be viewed negatively simply because it involves public figures or activists.

    No Official Investigation Reported

As of the time of reporting, there have been no official investigations or public reports linking the dealership to funds raised through the MVOI initiative.

The launch has nevertheless generated widespread discussion online, with opinions divided between those seeking greater transparency and those celebrating the business expansion.
