  • Eedris Recalls Obasanjo’s “Jagajaga” Outburst, Says Ex-President Walked Out After Hearing Song

Veteran Nigerian rapper Eedris Abdulkareem has opened up on his controversial encounter with former president Olusegun Obasanjo over his hit song “Jagajaga,” revealing how the ex-leader first blasted him publicly before later walking out of an event after hearing the same track.

    How it started

Eedris said the drama began when he received a call alerting him that Obasanjo was speaking about him on television.

“I was sleeping one day and received a call… ‘Put on your TV, Obasanjo is talking about you,’” he recalled.

According to him, the former president criticised the song harshly while praising other tracks.

“He said he loves songs like ‘He go better’, but there is one stupid boy that sang ‘Nigeria Jagajaga’. It’s his father and his mother that are Jagajaga,” Eedris recounted.

    His reaction

Rather than feel insulted, the rapper said he was pleased that his message had reached the highest level of leadership.

He explained that the criticism only confirmed that the song had made the impact he intended.

    Unexpected reunion in Europe

Months later, Eedris said he was invited to perform at an international event in Europe attended by Obasanjo and other dignitaries.

He revealed that the situation took an unexpected turn just before his performance.

“My friend, the German ambassador, reached out… When it was my turn, the DJ started playing ‘Jagajaga’,” he said.

    What happened next

According to Eedris, Obasanjo initially danced along, unaware of the song playing.

“At that moment, he didn’t know the song. He was dancing,” he said.

However, the mood quickly changed once the former president realised it was the same track he had earlier criticised.

“A few minutes later, it dawned on him… He got upset immediately, stood up and travelled back to Nigeria,” Eedris added.

    Background

“Jagajaga” remains one of the most politically charged songs in Nigeria’s music history, widely known for its criticism of governance and social conditions at the time.

Eedris’ latest revelation has reignited conversations around the song’s impact and its place in Nigeria’s political and cultural landscape.

  • Pasuma Reacts to Viral Osupa Voice Note Claiming Superiority, Performs Rival’s Songs at Ibadan Event

Fuji music star Alhaji Wasiu Alabi Pasuma has responded to a viral voice note allegedly made by fellow Fuji artiste Saheed Osupa, in which Osupa was said to have claimed superiority over him in music, choosing instead to promote unity and mutual respect during a public performance in Ibadan, Oyo State.

    What happened

The controversy began after a Facebook influencer, AlfasunaTV, shared an audio recording that quickly went viral, sparking heated reactions among Fuji music fans online.

In the recording, Saheed Osupa, 57, was alleged to have made critical remarks about Pasuma and reportedly compared their musical standing to that of Fuji legends Sikiru Ayinde Barrister and Kollington Ayinla.

The influencer also claimed Osupa once encouraged him to insult Pasuma and another associate, Kola Olootu, before later distancing himself from such actions.

    Listen to the voice note:

    Pasuma breaks silence on stage

Pasuma, 58, addressed the situation during a live performance at Liberty Stadium, Ibadan, on April 15, 2025, during the Artisan Day celebration, where fans had expected a direct clapback or emotional reaction.

Instead, the Fuji star, popularly called “Omo Iyawo Anobi,” took a calmer route, telling the audience there was no rivalry or bad blood between him and Osupa.

He maintained that both of them remain committed to Fuji music and should not be divided by external narratives or social media speculation.

    Performance that shifted the tone

Rather than escalate the tension, Pasuma went further to perform songs originally associated with Saheed Osupa during the event, a move that drew loud reactions from the crowd.

His performance was widely interpreted as a symbolic gesture of respect, with fans saying it reflected maturity and a desire to de-escalate long-standing rumours of rivalry.

    Online reactions

The incident quickly generated mixed reactions on social media, with fans debating the alleged rift and Pasuma’s response.

Some praised his calm approach, describing him as “mature and humble,” while others framed it as another chapter in the ongoing comparison between Fuji heavyweights.

Others joked about the rivalry culture in Nigerian entertainment, comparing it to other celebrity dynamics in the Afrobeats scene.

    Legacy over rivalry

Pasuma’s response appeared to centre on unity, with the singer emphasizing legacy, growth, and respect within the Fuji music industry rather than competition or personal disputes.

His decision to perform Osupa’s songs further reinforced the message, shifting attention away from controversy and back to music.

The moment has since reignited conversations about whether the long-rumoured tension between both Fuji stars is overstated or finally easing into mutual respect.

  • Davido Admits Cheating on Chioma Before Marriage, Says “I Was Most Disappointed in Myself”

Afrobeats star Davido has opened up about a personal regret in his relationship with his wife, Chioma Adeleke, revealing that he once cheated on her before their marriage during what he described as a difficult period between them.

    What happened

Speaking candidly, the singer said the incident occurred when their relationship was going through a rough patch.

“I was most disappointed in myself when I cheated on my wife when we had a little rift back then before we got married,” he said.

He admitted he expected better from himself, especially given Chioma’s personality.

“I thought I could have done better because she’s an amazing person,” he added.

    Turning point

Davido described the moment as a major wake-up call, saying it forced him to reflect on his actions.

“That was the only time I knew I really messed up,” he said.

According to him, the experience marked a turning point in how he approached the relationship going forward.

    Where things stand now

The singer said he has since worked on making things right between them, noting that they have moved past the incident.

“I have fixed it and we’re married,” he stated.

    Background

Davido also recently shared details about how he met Chioma during their university days, revealing that she initially turned him down before they later reconnected in Lagos.

The couple’s relationship has remained in the public eye, often drawing reactions from fans across social media.

  • Peter Okoye, Paul Okoye, Mr Macaroni Lead Outrage Over Jos Palm Sunday killings

Nigerian entertainers and public figures have taken to social media to condemn the Palm Sunday massacre in Angwan Rukuba, Jos North Local Government Area, where gunmen opened fire on residents on Sunday evening, killing at least 22 people and injuring several others, with many directing their anger at both the Plateau State government and President Bola Tinubu over what they described as a failure to protect Nigerian lives.

The attack, which occurred around 7:30 p.m. on March 29 at a bar in the Gari Ya Waye community, has sent shockwaves through the country, particularly among entertainers with roots in Plateau State.

    Peter Okoye

Singer Peter Okoye, who grew up in Plateau State, expressed raw emotion in his reaction on X. “My heart is heavy… My prayers are with my people in Jos,” he wrote, accompanied by a string of broken heart emojis.

In a separate post that surfaced amid the outrage, Peter also directly questioned the Nigerian government’s response, expressing disbelief that a confirmed death toll of dozens had not prompted a formal presidential address to the nation. He called the administration’s response incompetent and said the recurring tragedies were “unbearably heart-wrenching.”

    Paul Okoye (Rudeboy)

Paul Okoye, Peter’s twin brother and fellow P-Square alumnus, took a sharper tone. “We are not angry enough!!!” he wrote on X. “Maybe na until God come down to earth.” The singer, who was also born in Plateau State, used his platform to challenge what he described as widespread public passivity in the face of repeated security failures.

    Mr Macaroni

Comedian and activist Mr Macaroni was the most direct in his criticism of the presidency, writing: “President @officialABAT is running the most useless government in the history of useless governments!!! How many more Nigerians have to die due to this abysmal level of incompetence? Nigerians wake up every day to lament one tragedy or the other. Unbearably heart-wrenching!!!

In a follow-up post, Mr Macaroni said he could not understand how 40 confirmed deaths in Jos had not prompted the president to address the nation. “Zero accountability, zero responsibility!!!” he wrote.

    Ice Prince

Jos-born rapper Ice Prince reflected on the community’s long history of suffering. “Since 2001, Jos, Jos, Jos. My people have suffered too much tbh… Thoughts and prayers,” he wrote on X — a reference to the cycle of ethno-religious violence that has plagued the city for over two decades.

    Nathaniel Bassey and Jerry Eze

Gospel singer Nathaniel Bassey offered prayers rather than political criticism, writing: “JOS! You shall not be broken. The forces of evil in our nation shall never prevail. We shall see their end. It is well with you, Jos. Let there be light!” Pastor Jerry Eze of Streams of Joy International also reacted, calling on divine protection for the community.

    Kunle Remi

Nollywood actor Kunle Remi, who made headlines last week for speaking out about fuel prices, also added his voice to the chorus of condemnation, describing the attack as deeply painful and calling on the government to take decisive action to protect lives in Plateau State.

The celebrity reactions came alongside physical protests on the ground. Hundreds of angry residents took to the streets on Monday morning, defying the 48-hour curfew imposed by the Plateau State government, to protest the killings and demand urgent action from authorities. Protesters gathered at the scene of the attack, expressing outrage over the continued loss of lives in the state.

On social media, users echoed the same frustration. One commenter wrote: “The government in Nigeria has failed over and over again in protecting the lives and property of Nigerians. This government must go.” Another, @Frankline Obi, warned that prolonged insecurity could radicalise youth: “Plateau youths have endured enough pain. When peace is met with bullets, frustration turns to fire.”

The Gari Ya Waye attack occurred on Palm Sunday, the opening of Holy Week in the Christian calendar, in a predominantly Christian community in Jos North. A 48-hour curfew remains in place across Jos North LGA until April 1, 2026. Governor Caleb Mutfwang described the attack as barbaric and unprovoked and said security agencies had been mobilised, but no arrests had been announced as of Tuesday morning.

  • Sarah Martins Denies Blessing CEO’s Cancer Claim, Calls it a Fundraising Stunt

Nollywood actress Sarah Martins has publicly challenged the cancer disclosure made by popular relationship therapist and content creator Blessing Okoro, widely known as Blessing CEO, describing the announcement as a manipulative attempt to generate public sympathy and solicit funds for her partner.

The actress posted her claims on Instagram on Wednesday evening, hours after Blessing CEO’s tearful cancer video had gone viral and attracted widespread concern from Nigerians online.

    What Blessing CEO said

Earlier this week, Blessing CEO published an emotional video in which she broke down in tears, disclosed that she had been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer, and asked Nigerians to pray for her. The video generated significant sympathy across social media, with thousands of followers sending messages of support and inquiring about how to assist her.

    Sarah Martins’ counter-claims

In her Instagram post, Martins flatly denied the cancer claim, alleging that Blessing CEO resides in the Lakwe area of Lagos and commutes regularly by bus alongside IVD. She also alleged that a Mercedes-Benz recently displayed as a gift was staged for public attention rather than a genuine acquisition. “There’s no money anywhere,” she said.

Martins went further, alleging that both Blessing CEO and IVD are currently experiencing financial difficulties, claiming that assets had been sold to manage their expenses. She described the cancer announcement as a deliberate strategy designed to attract public empathy and donations. “This cancer story is a manipulative stunt to gain sympathy and empathy from Nigerians in order to raise money to start a business for IVD,” she alleged.

    Important editorial note

It is critical to state clearly that Sarah Martins’ claims are unverified allegations. RNN.NG has not independently confirmed or denied Blessing CEO’s medical condition. A cancer diagnosis is a serious and sensitive medical matter, and no third party — including Sarah Martins — is in a position to confirm or disprove it without access to verified medical records.

Blessing CEO has not responded directly to Martins’ allegations as of the time of this report.

The controversy comes amid an already tense public dynamic surrounding Blessing CEO and IVD, with the two having previously been the subject of online scrutiny over their relationship and financial lifestyle. Many Nigerians online are now calling for verified medical evidence before drawing conclusions, while others have sided with Martins’ scepticism.

Blessing CEO is widely known as a relationship commentator with a large social media following, and has previously been at the centre of several public controversies involving Nigerian celebrities.

  • Kunle Remi Slams ₦1,300 Fuel Price, Challenges Pro-Tinubu Colleagues

Nollywood actor Kunle Remi has broken his usual silence on political matters, taking to social media on Tuesday to express frustration over Nigeria’s worsening fuel prices, erratic power supply, and what he described as a lack of accountability in government.

The actor, known for roles in several popular Nigerian productions, said the current economic reality had become impossible to ignore or stay quiet about.

“Sitting on the fence is stupid”

In a video shared on his Instagram page, Remi said he has always avoided discussing politics publicly but now considers that position untenable. “That’s the most stupid statement of anybody in Nigeria right now. We should be discussing, trying to fix things, and inquiring about what is happening in the nation. There’s nothing like sitting on the fence,” he said.

    The fuel and power crisis

Remi said petrol now sells for ₦1,300 per litre on Lagos Island, where he lives, and that residents have been running generators continuously due to a lack of stable electricity supply. He noted the financial and psychological toll this has taken, including on his own staff, who struggle to afford the higher transport costs just to get to work.

“All the things I’m working for… for what? It’s messing with my brain, and my spirit is very angry,” he said.

He also pointed to the country’s dependence on a single functioning refinery — the Dangote refinery — while other refineries across the country remain non-operational, describing government support in the sector as inadequate.

    Challenge to colleagues

Remi directly challenged fellow entertainers who he said are part of a group promoting the message that Nigerians should “relax” because President Tinubu is fixing the country, questioning whether they are truly standing for the right reasons.

He did not name any individual colleagues in the video.

Nigeria has seen significant increases in fuel prices since the removal of the fuel subsidy in May 2023, shortly after President Bola Tinubu took office. Petrol prices have risen from under ₦200 per litre at the time of the removal to well above ₦1,000 in several parts of the country by early 2026. The Dangote refinery began local fuel sales in late 2024, but prices have remained high, with the naira’s continued weakness against the dollar cited as a key factor.

Remi’s video had generated significant engagement on social media by Tuesday evening. RNN.NG will follow any responses from the colleagues he referenced. Nigerians can watch the full video on his official Instagram page, @kunleremiofficial.

  • Princess Tears up, Calls Biola Bayo Wicked Over Baba Ijesha Podcast interview

Comedian and actress Damilola Adekoya, popularly known as Princess, broke down in tears on Tuesday as she publicly condemned actress and podcaster Biola Adebayo for interviewing convicted actor Olanrewaju Omiyinka, known as Baba Ijesha, on her YouTube show, Talk to B.

Princess, whose foster daughter was the victim in the Baba Ijesha case, took to her Instagram page to condemn Adebayo, questioning how a self-described rape survivor could give a platform to a convicted sex offender to cast aspersions on the victim’s family.

    What Princess said

In an emotional video, Princess accused Biola of insensitivity and deliberate cruelty. She pointed out that despite chatting and speaking on the phone several times over five years, Biola Adebayo never once asked about the welfare of the teenage victim — but did visit Baba Ijesha in prison.

Princess also stressed that Biola edited and uploaded the interview even though Baba Ijesha never apologised during the session, and that she failed to push him to do so.

    What triggered the backlash

In the interview, Baba Ijesha addressed the rape allegations against him, insisting he is neither a paedophile nor a rapist. He described parts of the incident as a “setup,” suggested elements of the 2021 case were linked to “movie preparation,” and accused Princess of betrayal while expressing disappointment with actress Iyabo Ojo.

The interview drew swift backlash, with many Nigerians on social media criticising both Baba Ijesha and Biola Bayo for allowing him to speak. Biola subsequently took the video down from her YouTube channel and hid it on her Instagram reels.

    Iyabo Ojo issues legal warning

Actress Iyabo Ojo also responded, sending a cease-and-desist notice to Baba Ijesha, warning him to stop using her children as “cheap bait.” She said she is not opposed to him telling his side of the story, but insisted he must not make false claims about her children.

    Background

In 2021, Princess accused Baba Ijesha of sexually assaulting her 14-year-old foster daughter. He was convicted by a Lagos State High Court in Ikeja in July 2022 and sentenced to five years in prison. He completed his sentence and was released in November 2025. The Lagos State Ministry of Justice has since clarified that he was not acquitted of the offences, and his name remains on the Lagos Sexual Offenders Register.
