Davido Teases Wike Over Adeleke’s Osun Election Victory in Viral Video

Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has playfully teased Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike over his uncle Ademola Adeleke’s victory in the Osun State governorship election.

The light-hearted exchange happened on Thursday during Governor Adeleke’s visit to Wike’s Abuja residence and has since circulated widely online.

Davido Reminds Wike of Election Defeat

In the video, originally shared on Instagram by @OfficialPrinceNwauzor and later circulated on X by accounts including YabaLeftOnline, Davido is seen standing in brown traditional attire while Wike sits nearby.

Davido repeatedly told the minister, “I won. I beat you guys.”

Wike responded with a smile, saying, “No, no,” before asking, “You beat us?”

Davido replied, “I beat you,” prompting laughter from those in the room.

The exchange ended with Davido prostrating before Wike before embracing him as others cheered and applauded.

Adeleke Visits Wike After Osun Victory

The encounter followed Adeleke’s visit to Wike shortly after a closed-door meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Adeleke had presented his certificate of return after winning the August 15 Osun governorship election on the Accord Party platform.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Adeleke the winner after he polled 511,067 votes to defeat All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate Bola Oyebamiji, who scored 444,815 votes.

Adeleke won 19 of Osun State’s 30 local government areas, securing a second term in office.

Video Draws Reactions Online

The playful exchange has attracted reactions from Nigerians online, with many focusing on the relaxed atmosphere between Davido, Wike and Adeleke despite their different political alignments.

The interaction also reflects the personal relationships that sometimes cut across political divisions in Nigeria, with Davido using the election result to jokingly remind Wike of the APC’s defeat in Osun.
