Google has released its Year In Search report of the most searched people in Nigeria for the year 2021. According to the data published by Google Trends, these people have the highest search volume from Nigeria this year.
RNN not only provide you with the list of 2021 most googled people in Nigeria but also highlights some of the events that led to such a high volume of search.
1) Tiwa Savage
Tiwa Savage is the most googled person in Nigeria in 2021.
Well, this wouldn’t be much of a surprise as Tiwa Savage made headlines following the claims that someone threatened her over her recorded s*xtape. Not long after Tiwa Savage exposed the threats, perhaps as a thought remedy to nullify the threat, the s*xtape was released to the Internet.
Admittedly, Tiwa Savage has quite a mesmerizing body that many Nigerians adore. So their interest in her s*xtape was somewhat fierce and expected.
Not to mention, Tiwa Savage also trended for releasing a new EP titled “Water and Garri“, her feud with Seyi Shay, and the passing of her father too.
2) Obi Cubana
The second most searched person in Nigeria 2021 is Obi Cubana.
Obinna Iyiegbu, also known as Obi Cubana, is a Nigerian entrepreneur and businessman; he chairs the Obi Cubana group of companies.
He made headlines following the extravagant celebration of his mother’s burial. Besides receiving over 300 cows to commemorate the event, a lot of top dignitaries were in attendance. Moreso, the lavish spraying of money at the ceremony contributed to the widespread.
Also, Obi Cubana’s arrest by EFCC over money laundering and tax evasion also sparked curiosity among Nigerians.

3) Sunday Igboho
Sunday Adeniyi Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho is a Yoruba rights activist, who came into the limelight after issuing a quit notice to Fulani herders in the Ibarapa area of Oyo State.
The Department of State Services (DSS) carried out a raid on his residence after intelligence reports revealed that Igboho stockpiled weapons in his house. Sunday Igboho managed to escape and was declared wanted by the DSS.
Sunday Igboho was later arrested in Cotonou, Benin Republic when he tried to flee Nigeria for Germany after Soldiers attacked his residence. He is still being held by the Beninese government.
4) Romelu Lukaku
It was all joy for Chelsea fans in Nigeria when the rumour that Romelu Lukaku would be leaving Intermilan for Chelsea broke. The majority of the search was about his transfer.
5) Nnamdi Kanu
Nnamdi Kanu is the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), a group that agitates for the secession of Biafra from Nigeria. In some of his comments, he urged Biafrans to take up arms against the Nigerian state.
Shortly after arriving in Nigeria in October 2015, he was charged with “criminal conspiracy, intimidation, and membership of an illegal organization” – charges that could amount to treason.
He was, however, granted bail in April 2017 for health reasons but skipped bail after flouting some of the conditions given to him by the court. Despite the court’s insistence on his appearance, Nnamdi Kanu remained abroad.
Owing to his absence in court, Binta Nyako, the judge who granted him bail, revoked it and ordered that he should be arrested.
Kanu dismissed the arrest warrant issued against him and vowed to remain abroad to continue agitating for Biafra.
The Federal Government and the court later declared IPOB a terrorist group following a clash between the military and protesters at Nnamdi Kanu house in Umuahia, the capital of Abia state.
Earlier this year, TheCable reported Nnamdi Kanu’s arrest and extradition to Nigeria to face trial on charges bordering on treasonable felony instituted against him at the federal high court in Abuja.

The Veteran Nollywood actor, Olanrewaju James popular known as Baba Ijesha went viral this year following accusation of sexually assaulting a minor. He recorded the highest search volume for the Video footage showing how he defiled the foster teenage daughter of Commedianne Princess.
8) Omah Lay
The music industry has recently recorded quite a number of fast-rising stars that has rocked our ears with beautiful tunes and soothing melodies.
Omah Lay is one of the most searched persons in 2021 for hit song, “Understand“. The song is pegged at No. 4 on Spotify’s Top 10 Most Streamed Tracks in Nigeria 2021.
He also emerged winner of the 14th Headies Next Rated Award.
9) Raphael Varane
Just like it was for Chelsea fans with Lukaku, Manchested United fans were equally jolly about the news of Raphael Varane move to the club.
10) Fabrizio Romano
Fabrizio Romano is popularly referred to as the king of football transfer news. He reported his first bit of transfer news at the age of 18. He was popularly searched by Nigerians during the transfer window this season.
