Liya Kebede with an estimated net worth of $18 million is the Richest African Young Woman. She was born on March 01 1978 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia a groundbreaking Ethiopian model, Fashion Designer, Health Philanthropist, and Actress.

As the Richest African Young Woman and a philanthropist, since 2005, she has been a Goodwill Ambassador for WHO on Maternal, Newborn, Child Health and also runs her own Organization named “Liya Kedebe Foundation”

She attended a French international school named Lycee Guebre-Mariam in Addis Abbaba where she was spotted by a film director that introduced her to a French Modelling Agent.

First, she moved to Paris at the age of 18 after completing her studies to pursue her modeling, and then later to New York.

Liya was made in 2000 when Tom Ford asked her for an exclusive contract for his Gucci Fall/Winter fashion show. The entire issue was devoted to her in May 2002 when she was featured on the cover of Paris Vogue.

The Richest African Young Woman Kebede ranked #1 on models.com after a $3 million contract in 2003 when she was named the newest face of Estée Lauder cosmetics. She was the only Ethiopian to serve as their representative in the company’s 57-year history.

Kebede earned $2.5 million over the previous 12 months and Forbes named her eleventh in the list of the World’s 15 Top-Earning Supermodels in July 2007. Casting agent James Scully compared her to “an exotic Grace Kelly” the following year.

In the May 2009 issue of US Vogue, she was highlighted as a “Face of the Moment.”
