Core Facts to Know About the New James Bond

After Daniel Craig’s final appearance in the James Bond series in 2021, fans worldwide are so eager to know who the new James Bond will be. If you’re also in this boat, this post is for you.

While there are many speculations on who will dare steal our hearts like Craig and his predecessors, RNN highlights 5 well-researched facts you should know about the yet-to-be-unveiled 007 character, James Bond.

The character was created by Ian Fleming in 1953 and so far, it has been played by various actors like Sean Connery, Pierce Brosnan, and most recently, Daniel Craig.

The character is an Intelligence officer in the Secret Intelligence Service, popularly known as the MI6. Daniel Craig embodied this character for 16 years before taking it off in 2021 with the movie, No Time To Die.

5 Things to Know about the New James Bond

So far, here are 5 facts we have gathered from reliable sources (which we will cite) on who the next James Bond is.

1. He Will Take on an Entirely Different Character

If we don’t tell you this particular one, you just might be caught up in the “What I expected vs what I got” dilemma. The James bond you’ve always known may not be the one you see in the next Bond film. The character is set to be changed into someone entirely new.

How do we know this? From the horse’s mouth! The series producer, Barbara Broccoli revealed in an interview that the character is set to be “reinvented”. In a speech with Deadline, Broccoli said: “There isn’t a script and we can’t come up with one until we decide how we’re going to approach the next film because, really, it’s a reinvention of Bond. We’re reinventing who he is and that takes time.”

007 may never be the same again. He just might come as a horrific personality or a total “gentleman”. We’ll get to know in about two years.

2. He’s Not Showing up Anytime Soon

Two years is not a speculation on our end. Broccoli said so herself in the same speech with Deadline.

It’s probably not what you bargained for but over time, we’ve seen that Bond films are mostly worth the wait. We can only hope this won’t be an exception.

We may even have to wait a decade as the producer revealed that the new James Bond will not show up until at least two years from now. Her words were: “We’re reinventing who he is and that takes time. I’d say that filming is at least two years away.”

Since we’re about to see a whole new character, we may as well refresh our memories with past Bond movies.

3. The Next Bond May Be Non-White

It may take a while to get used to this new character if his outward appearance is totally different from the others. It seems as though this reinvention might change Fleming’s popular image of what Bond should look like.James Bond Sketch by Ian Fleming

Contrary to the white Bond we know, this new character may not be White. Broccoli agrees that Bond “Should be British” but she also goes further to say that “British can be any (ethnicity or race)”.

However this new Bond comes, we won’t be caught off guard at least!

4. The New Bond is NOT A WOMAN

James Bond is not a woman

Ordinarily, this would not be part of the key things to know about the new James Bond, however popular speculations ensured we add it to the list.

Actress“, Lashana Lynch has been rumored to be the next James bond and many believed it. If you did, here’s a disclaimer from the producer whose words serve as the reference for this article.

He can’t – for now, at least – be a woman. We should create roles for women, not just turn a man into a woman”.

Daniel Craig who has played the role for over 15 years shares the same sentiments.

5. There is no Official James Bond Yet

As obvious as it may seem to some, this needs more echo. The only names that exist are mere guesses, from whomever they come. As mentioned earlier, the new Bond may not be unveiled until about two years’ time. So, we may as well get used to having popular guesses from credible sources.

Tom Hardy and Idris Alba are two actors who have been rumored to be the next James Bond until Broccoli came to the rescue.
