  • Bisi Adewale Warns Against Long ‘Omugwo’ Trips Abroad, Says Couples Must Travel Together

Marriage counselor and cleric, Bisi Adewale, has cautioned against the growing trend of women travelling abroad for extended childcare support, popularly known as omugwo.

He expressed concern about the impact of long separations on families, especially elderly couples.

    ‘It Affects Marital Balance’

Speaking during a recent teaching session, Adewale said the practice often leaves elderly men alone while their wives remain abroad for years.

He described the situation as unhealthy for emotional connection and marital stability.

“Another thing I hate is for a woman to escape to Canada to do omugwo for three years… that’s how you’ll see a 75-year-old man going around to buy boli,” he said.

    Calls for Joint Travel Decisions

The cleric advised couples to take joint decisions when it comes to travelling abroad for family support roles.

According to him, marriage should remain a partnership regardless of circumstances.

“If you’re going to Canada, we’re going together… I’ll get a hotel,” he added.

    Concerns Over Family Separation

Adewale noted that prolonged separation can weaken companionship, especially in older marriages where emotional bonding is crucial.

He suggested that families should explore alternatives that keep couples together while fulfilling childcare responsibilities.

Wider Conversation on Migration and Family Life

His comments add to ongoing discussions in Nigeria about how migration and long-distance family arrangements are reshaping traditional family structures.

The debate around omugwo abroad continues to generate mixed reactions, especially among younger families navigating global relocation.

  • Tinubu Tasks Ambassadors to Boost Nigeria’s Image, Drive Investment Push

President Bola Tinubu has directed Nigeria’s ambassadors and high commissioners to strengthen the country’s global image and attract foreign investment.

The directive was delivered on Monday at the opening of an induction programme for envoys at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

    Focus on Results-Driven Diplomacy

Represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, the President urged diplomats to adopt a more modern and results-oriented approach.

He said envoys must combine traditional diplomacy with digital engagement, public communication, and strategic outreach.

    Foreign Policy Framework Adjusted

The administration also announced a refinement of Nigeria’s foreign policy framework, known as the 4D Doctrine.

Originally built on Democracy, Development, Demography, and Diaspora, the revised approach now places Nigerians at the centre of all engagements.

    ‘Deliver Tangible Benefits’

According to the government, the shift is aimed at ensuring that international relations translate into real benefits for citizens.

Tinubu noted that the role of diplomats has become more critical in a rapidly changing global environment.

    Call for Professionalism and Integrity

The President emphasised the need for professionalism, integrity, and patriotism in the conduct of diplomatic duties.

He also encouraged the envoys to take full advantage of the induction course, describing it as essential for effective service.

The government said the training is designed to equip diplomats with the skills needed to represent Nigeria’s interests globally.

  • Deji Adeyanju Speaks on Power Crisis, Says Nigerians Don’t Need 24-Hour Electricity

Nigerian activist Deji Adeyanju has said that most citizens are not demanding 24-hour electricity, but only basic and reliable power supply.

He made the remark during a recent appearance on The Honest Bunch podcast.

    ‘Nigerians Are Asking for Little’

According to him, Nigerians would be satisfied with electricity during key hours, especially in the evening and early morning.

“Nigerians don’t even want 24 hours light… they just want to come home at 8pm and meet light… and also meet light by 7am,” he said.

He added that this would allow people to rest comfortably at night and prepare for the day ahead.

    Suggests Priority for Industrial Use

Adeyanju argued that power supply could be prioritised for factories during other periods, while households get access at critical times.

He maintained that the expectations of citizens remain modest despite the country’s long-standing electricity challenges.

    Calls for Practical Solutions

The activist stressed that Nigerians are not asking for unrealistic improvements but basic functionality.

“How can this be too much?” he questioned.

His comments have added to ongoing conversations around Nigeria’s power supply and the need for more efficient distribution strategies.

  • Sanwo-Olu Breaks Silence After Resignation Rumours Over Health

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has reacted to reports claiming he was asked to resign over alleged health concerns.

The claim, which circulated online, suggested the governor had been directed to step down, with his deputy expected to take over.

Lagos Govt Dismisses Claim as False

In a statement issued on Monday, the governor’s media office described the report as completely false and misleading.

The statement, signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, said there was no directive asking the governor to resign.

“This report is false in its entirety. Nobody has asked the Lagos Governor to resign,” the statement said.

    ‘Governor Remains Healthy’

The media team stressed that Sanwo-Olu is in good health and fully in charge of his responsibilities.

“Governor Sanwo-Olu remains in good health, of sound mind, and is actively discharging his duties as Governor of Lagos State,” the statement added.

    Details of Meeting With Deputy

The government also addressed speculation triggered by a recent meeting between Sanwo-Olu and his deputy, Obafemi Hamzat.

According to the statement, Hamzat had paid a courtesy visit to formally notify the governor of his intention to contest the 2027 governorship election.

It noted that the meeting was routine and held in a cordial atmosphere.

  • Kemi Olunloyo Alleges Fraud Behind TikTok Gifts, Mentions Peller, Carter Efe

Controversial journalist Kemi Olunloyo has made fresh allegations about the source of large virtual gifts received by Nigerian TikTok livestreamers.

Her comments come amid the ongoing online tension involving Peller and Joblaq.

Claims Link Between Gifts and Fraud

In a video, Olunloyo questioned how some content creators receive high-value gifts during livestream sessions.

She alleged that such transactions could be tied to fraudulent activities involving stolen credit cards.

“These gifts… come from fraudsters. They steal credit cards and use them for gifts on social media,” she claimed.

    Mentions Popular Streamers

Olunloyo referenced popular livestreamers, including Peller and Carter Efe, raising concerns about the scale of income reported from TikTok sessions.

She suggested that the popularity of some creators may be partly driven by large gifts from unknown sources.

    Alleges Possible International Scrutiny

The journalist further claimed that international authorities, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), may be monitoring such activities.

She alleged that some streamers could face investigation, though no official confirmation has been issued.

“In that process the FBI is looking straight at all of them,” she said.

  • Aisha Achimugu Denies $13m Found in Home, Speaks on Wealth Amid EFCC Case

Lagos-based socialite and business executive, Aisha Achimugu, has denied reports that $13 million was discovered in her residence, describing the claim as misleading.

She spoke amid ongoing scrutiny over her finances and legal battle with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

    ‘I’m Not a Bank’

In an interview on Monday, Achimugu said only $50,000 and ₦13 million, which she claimed belonged to her mother, were found during a raid on her home.

“I don’t know where Nigerians got the impression that I had 13 million dollars in my house. I’m not a bank,” she said.

She added that her house was searched, but the widely circulated figure is inaccurate.

    Distances Wealth from Political Ties

Achimugu also dismissed claims linking her wealth to Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

According to her, she has been running businesses since 2001 and built her fortune through legitimate ventures.

She said her company successfully participated in oil block bidding rounds between 2022 and 2024 through a transparent process.

    Explains Foreign Currency Possession

On the presence of foreign currency, she said it was kept for practical reasons, noting that her children study abroad.

“It is important to have some foreign currency available for emergencies,” she said.

She declined to speak extensively on the EFCC case, citing ongoing legal proceedings.

    Addresses Birthday Controversy, EFCC Invitation

Achimugu also defended her high-profile birthday celebration in Grenada, saying it had been planned for years and was not funded with any disputed funds.

She explained that her delayed response to EFCC’s invitation was due to her being out of the country, adding that her movements may have been misinterpreted.

    Court Ruling Adds Twist

In March, a Federal High Court in Abuja ordered the final forfeiture of $13 million linked to Achimugu and her company to the Federal Government.

The court ruled that the funds were proceeds of unlawful activities, while the EFCC maintained they were traced through suspicious transactions tied to oil block deals.

Achimugu and her firm have, however, continued to deny any wrongdoing.

  • Speed Darlington Questions Portable’s Wealth, Dismisses Audiomack Earnings

Nigerian rapper Speed Darlington has cast doubt on the financial status of fellow artist Portable, sparking reactions online.

His comments came during a livestream session.

    Dismisses Audiomack as Income Source

Speaking during the session with streamer Peller, the rapper rejected suggestions that he should upload his music on Audiomack.

He insisted that the platform does not generate meaningful revenue for artists.

“I can’t see any proof of money on Portable… Anyone who wants to listen to my music must pay for it,” he said.

Remarks Stir Debate Over Streaming Income

The comments have reignited conversations around how much artists earn from streaming platforms, particularly in Nigeria’s music industry.

Portable had recently complained about low earnings from digital streaming despite having a wide audience.

    Portable Earlier Sought Industry Support

Weeks before the exchange, Portable had appealed to industry figures, including Don Jazzy, for support in digital marketing.

He claimed that despite his visibility, streaming returns have remained low.

The latest remarks from Speed Darlington have now added a new layer to the ongoing debate within the industry.

  • ‘I Knew My Son Was Gone’ — Slain Corps Member’s Mother Recounts Final Moments

Habiba Abubakar, mother of Abdulsamad Jamiu, the National Youth Service Corps member allegedly killed by soldiers in Dei-Dei, Abuja, has recounted the moment she realised her son was dead.

Her account comes days after the incident that has sparked widespread reactions.

    Call That Sparked Fear

Speaking in an interview, the grieving mother said she was away for a burial when a neighbour called to alert her about gunshots in her area.

“I travelled on Thursday… only for me to receive a call… She said she’s hearing gunshots. Fear gripped me,” she said.

She added that repeated attempts to reach her children failed, heightening her anxiety.

    Family Tries to Withhold Truth

According to her, when she eventually reached her husband, he initially withheld the full details of what had happened.

“He said, ‘Soldier carried Abdulsamad.’ I said, how? For what? He said they want to interrogate him,” she recalled.

She said her phone was later taken from her as she cried, further deepening her suspicion that something had gone wrong.

“That was when I knew that my son is not alive again,” she said.

    Allegations of How Killing Happened

Abubakar alleged that soldiers entered their compound by scaling the fence and went straight to her son’s room.

“They shot him through the door. They shot the door two times,” she said.

She further claimed that after the incident, soldiers directed vigilantes to clean the blood using items taken from her kitchen.

“They entered my kitchen… took bucket and gave the vigilante to mop the blood,” she said.

Grief, Questions, and Demand for Answers

The mother, visibly emotional, questioned why her son was targeted, insisting he was inside his room when the soldiers arrived.

“Who did he offend? I want to know,” she said repeatedly.

The incident has continued to raise concerns, with calls for a thorough and independent investigation.
