The Oscars is a popular name for the academy award an annual award ceremony hosted by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to honor excellence in film.

The term Oscars originated as an informal nickname, it’s the most common way of referring to both the awards and the ceremony, and is even used in an official capacity by the Academy itself.

Winning an Oscar is considered the most prestigious honor in the film industry, and the ceremony is often seen as the premiere awards show event, known for being attended by many top celebrities in the film and entertainment industry.

Awards are presented in many different categories, including Best Picture, Best Actor and Actress in a Leading Role, Best Actor and Actress in a Supporting Role, and Best Director.

The oscar nominatios are selected by members of academy of motion picture arts and sciences, located in Bevely Hills, California, U.S to recognize achievement in the film industry.

The award presented during the ceremony a statuette in the form of a gold-plated figure is called an Academy Award, but it is popularly known as an Oscar

There is no direct cash prize for winning an oscar, no cheque is made out to the winner but those lucky enough to lift the 13 and a half inch tall golden statuette, crafted by Polich Tallix fine art foundary in New york’s hudson valley will certainly see a boost to their bank account, if not an immedaiate one.

The youngest Oscar winner is actress Tatum O’Neal who was only 10 years old when she best supporting actress for the film’Paper Moon’

Voting for the nominations begins in late december, and all votes tallied by pricewaterhousecopers (PWC) and then normally announced mid January.

Here is the list of the 2022 Oscar nominations and winners in each category of the 94th Academy Awards, handed out in Los Angeles on Sunday.

Deaf drama “CODA” won for best picture, Will Smith and Jessica Chastain took home acting awards, but “Dune” was the overall big winner with trophies in six categories including best original score and best cinematography.
