  • The institution is set to hold its 46th convocation ceremony in December

While students of Obafemi Awolowo University, OAU Ile-Ife prepare to write their Harmattan semester exams, convocation plans are equally ongoing.

Recall that the institution called on its students to report to school on October 20, 2022 for the continuation of academic activities that were paused due to the 8-month ASUU strike which began on February 14.

OAU announced via its proposed revised academic calendar that the harmattan semester exams will begin on December 28 and run through until January 18, 2023.

According to reports, the ongoing session has delayed students by one year as 100l students should have been preparing for their final level exams or 200l first semester exams by now. Some “freshers” have also taken to the internet to lament over how their excitement for “Tertiary Institution Life” was trampled on as a result of the strike.

The convocation, on the other hand, is OAU’s 46th edition and the institution plans to graduate thousands of students from December 7-10.

Meanwhile, students of the University of Ilorin have taken to social media to decry the “late resumption” even after ASUU had called off their industrial action.

UNILORIN had earlier announced via an official statement that the new semester would not begin until December 15.
