Biography
On June 17, 1943, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, to a single mother named Kit and his biological father Newton Sr., Newt Gingrich was born Newton McPherson. In 1946, his mother wed again, this time to veteran Army officer Robert Gingrich. Ten years later, the family relocated to Europe and spent time there in both France and Germany. Candace, Susan, and Roberta are Gingrich’s three younger half-siblings from his mother. His biological father also gave him a half-sister and half-brother.
Gingrich relocated to Fort Benning, Georgia, with his family while he was a junior in high school. Later, he attended Baker High School in Columbus, where he eventually graduated in 1961. Gingrich attended Tulane University for his graduate studies after graduating from Emory University with a BA in history and an MA and PhD in European history, respectively.
Career
Newt Gingrich started his profession as an assistant professor in the year 1970. He had a career and was engaged in politics as well. Later that year, after winning election to the US House of Representatives, he quit his employment. Gingrich did it historically as the first Republican to do so. He put a lot of effort into his work in Congress and was successful. He was chosen to be the House Minority Whip in 1989, and he was elected Speaker of the House in 1995.
Before quitting his position as Speaker and departing Congress in 1999, he held it for four years. Since then, he has served as a political consultant and attempted to obtain the 2012 Republican presidential nomination but was unsuccessful. Currently, he is backing Donald Trump.
