As Tinubu recently declared his intention in running for president in 2023, there has undoubtedly been growing worried over the meaning of the insignia on his cap.

However, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, often known as Jagaban of Lagos, is a Nigerian politician and elder statesman who was born on March 29, 1952.

Various politicians appear to have used various means to promote their ideas or convey their thoughts. Political emblems are born from a consistent hand lift, a unique fashion decision, and a repeated gesture.

A sculpture of circular-rimmed spectacles and a twisted Yoruba traditional headgear with what appears to be an infinity sign embroidered on it can be found at the roundabout in front of the United Bank for Africa offices in Marina, Lagos State, by anyone familiar with Lagos.

The Tinubu cap lacks a head, but it is evident that it is for the state’s prior governor.

When interviewed by Guardian in 2019, he said the embroidered meaning of the symbol on his cap is a broken shackle depicting freedom;

“Philosophically, it is my belief and faith in education, freedom fighting. On my cap is a broken shackle. It is freedom. The shackle is broken and you cannot put us in bondage anymore. You have broken the shackle of poverty, ignorance, disease,” Tinubu said.

“You develop the capacity to improve the quality of the lives of the people. It has been my philosophy and it will remain my philosophy. My office’s symbol is Freedom House. Freedom means everything to me, the freedom of man. You can find me on the street fighting against injustice.”

Meanwhile, there are other Nigerian politicians who have to steal particular symbols for themselves: Awolowo’s cap, Kwakwanso’s red cap, and the Buhari’s 4-4, which means a bid for his second time.

In other news, Tinubu has promised in a viral video trending online that the West African Examination Council (WAEC) fees of Nigerian students will be paid by his government if elected president in 2023.

Tinubu said this in a viral video with some party members in attendance.

“Your children’s West African examination fees are paid by us so that no one no matter how poor are left behind,” he said.

“The symbol of my cap is breaking shaft, we break the shaft of poverty, ignorance. ”

Highlighting the problem of banditry, Tinubu noted that the country needs peace and stability in order to move forward.

“We need stability in the country. Peace and solving banditry are extremely important because women are the first vulnerable victims.

“Without peace and stability we can’t build a nation as rapidly as we want,” Tinubu said.
