Biography
Master P was born and raised in Louisiana, United States. He is the oldest of five children. He attended Booker T. Washington High School and Warren Easton High School. Heattended the University of Houston on an athletic scholarship, but dropped out months into his freshman year and transferred to Merritt College in Oakland, California to major in business administration.
After the death of his grandfather, Miller inherited $10,000 as part of a malpractice settlement. Miller opened a record store in Richmond, California called No Limit Records And Tapes, which later became the foundation for his No Limit Congolomerate.
Career
Miller initially gained fame in the mid-1990s with the success of his hip-hop group TRU. Prior to the formation of the group, Master P has released two projects as a solo Rapper: Get Away Clean in 1991 and Mama’s Bad Boy in 1992. Leveraging on the success of TRU in 1994, Master P released his third studio album The Ghettos Tryin to Kill Me!.
He released several body of work but never got into the main stream, untill he released Ghetto D in 1997. The first week sales of the album were the highest of any of Master P’s albums, selling over 760,000 copies, and it went on to go certified triple platinum.
In 1998, he released his seventh and best-selling album to date MP Da Last Don. The album debuted at number 1 on the Billboard Top 200 charts selling over 400,000 copies in its first week, and went on to sell over four million copies.
Master P have since released several body of work after the success of MP Da Last Don, like Only God Can Judge Me, whcih sold over 500,000 copies. He also relaesed Good Side, Bad Side, which debuted at number 1 on the Billboard Independent Albums chart.
In 2000, formed a new group 504 Boyz, with other rappers from New Orleans. The group released their debut album Goodfellas, which peaked at number 1 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums. He also released numerous compilaition and collaborative albums after leaving the mainstream in the early 2000.
Aside being a successful rapper, Master P is also a successful music and entertainment executive. He founded No Limit Records, which was relaunched as New No Limit Records through Universal Records and Koch Records, and again as Guttar Music Entertainment, and currently, No Limit Forever Records.
