Nigerian activist Precious Oruche, popularly known as Mama Pee, has denied allegations that she blasphemed against Jesus Christ, claiming that a viral video used to accuse her was edited, while announcing her decision to withdraw from active participation in the 2027 election campaign.

Mama Pee, a prominent supporter of Peter Obi, made the clarification in a video shared on X on Monday, August 31, 2026, amid growing criticism over remarks attributed to her about Obi and Jesus Christ.

Mama Pee Says Video Was Edited

Addressing the controversy, Mama Pee said she never made a statement intended to blaspheme against Jesus and accused those circulating the clip of editing it.

“I never blasphemed against Jesus. What they are sharing is an edited video,” she said.

She also announced that she would step back from active campaign activities, saying the level of attacks against her had become concerning.

“I have finally decided to pull back from the 2027 election because if people can go this far to destroy you, I wonder what they would do next,” she said.

Despite the decision, Mama Pee reaffirmed her support for Peter Obi, declaring that she would continue to stand behind the former Anambra State governor.

“I can’t stop standing with Peter Obi. I can never give up,” she added.

Controversial Remark Resurfaces

The controversy follows the recirculation of a video in which Mama Pee was heard discussing Obi’s chances in a presidential election.

In the clip, she argued that Obi would defeat any politician in a free and fair election and reportedly added that even if Jesus came to contest in Nigeria, Obi would win.

The remark, originally circulated in February 2026, resurfaced on social media around August 30, prompting renewed accusations of blasphemy and criticism from some Nigerians.

Mama Pee has maintained that the version currently circulating does not represent the complete context of what she said.

Mama Pee Remains Supportive of Obi

Mama Pee has been a prominent figure within the “Obidient” movement, a network of supporters associated with Peter Obi since the 2023 presidential election.

She has remained publicly active in support of Obi as he prepares for the 2027 election under the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).

Her latest statement separates that support from her decision to reduce her direct involvement in campaign activities. She said she would continue to support Obi despite stepping away from the campaign structure.
