Burna Boy’s sixth studio album, Love Damini is no doubt one of the most commercially successful Nigerian albums in recent times. The album surpassed all expectations on the first day and even the first week of its release. It was released on 8 July 2022 through Atlantic Records and features guest appearances from Ladysmith Black Mambazo, J Hus, Vict0ny, Popcaan, Blxst, Kehlani, Ed Sheeran, J Balvin, and Khalid. Love Damini was supported by two singles, “Kilometre” and “Last Last”. The album is named after Burna Boy’s legal first name and serves as the follow-up to his previous album, Twice as Tall (2020). 1. Highest Debut For An African Album On Billboard 200

Burna Boy recorded the highest debut position for an Afrobeats album on the Billboard 200 album chart, peaking at number 14 after Love Damini sold over 20,000 copies in the United States in its first week. It is also the highest charting African Album on the Chart surpassing Wizkid’s Made In Lagos and Hugh Masekela’s Promise of a Future.

2. Highest Charting  African Album In the United Kingdom

Love Damini is the highest charting African album in the United Kingdom. The album which debuted and peaked no 2 on the Official Uk charts, takes its place as the highest charting African album in the United Kingdom.

3. Fastest Debut For An African Song On Billboard Hot 100

Burna Boy had dominated on the popular US charts Billboard with his latest project ‘Love Damini’ as he became the first Nigerian to debut early on the Billboard Hot 100 charts with ‘Last Last’ over 2 months after its release at number 86. The song has moved up the chart present;y at 53 in its ninth Week

4. Highest Debut For An African Album In France

Burna Boy also recorded the highest debut position for an Afrobeats album on the France SNEP album chart at number 17 breaking the previous record which was also held by him as well.

5. Highest charting For An African Album In the Netherlands

Burna Boy also recorded the charting debut position for an African album in the Netherlands with ‘Love Damini’ at number 2 as well.

6. First Nigerian Album to chart on the Germany Official Chart.

With Love Damini, Burna Boy becomes the Nigerian artist to chart on the Germany Official chart peaking at 61. It is imperative to note Love Damini charted in over 13 countries, making it one of the African albums with the highest official chart entries in the world

7. Highest First day streams for an African album in Spotify History

Love Damini also recorded the highest African Album first-day streams in Spotify history, recording over 8.3 Million streams on the platform. It also has the highest album first-day Stream in the history of Boom Play, with over 3.8 Million streams.

Burna also recorded a huge debut day across all digital streaming platforms in Nigeria as well as most of the songs on the album occupied the top 10 spots on the Spotify Daily Chart in Nigeria and also the Apple Music Top Songs Nigeria Chart as well.
