American gospel music icon Kirk Franklin thrilled worshippers after inviting Nigerian gospel singer Mercy Chinwo on stage for a surprise performance during London’s first outdoor gospel festival.

The memorable moment took place on Sunday, August 2, at the International Gospel Music Festival, also known as Gospel Garden, held at the Crystal Palace Bowl in London.

The event, organised with the support of Live Nation, featured renowned gospel ministers, including Kirk Franklin, Mercy Chinwo, Tasha Cobbs Leonard and Fred Hammond.

During his performance, Franklin surprised the audience by calling Mercy Chinwo to join him on stage, where they delivered an energetic worship session that drew loud cheers from the crowd.

Videos circulating online captured the pair singing together and engaging worshippers, with Chinwo dressed in a blue patterned outfit and beret while Franklin performed in a sleeveless “Jesus” shirt.
