Guinness World Records: ‘I keep refreshing my email,’ Hilda Baci cries out
Nigerian popular chef, Hilda Baci has cried out saying she is anxiously awaiting confirmation from Guinness World Records since she has broken the record for the longest continuous cooking marathon.
Baci cooked for 100 hours and 40 minutes straight, beating the previous record of 87 hours and 40 minutes set by Indian chef Lata Tondon in 2019.
“I’m so excited, I can’t wait to hear back from Guinness World Records,” Baci said. “I’ve been refreshing my email every second since we submitted all the evidence.”
Not me refreshing my email every second since we submitted all the evidence to Guinness World Records 😩🥺

Baci, who is originally from Lagos, Nigeria, moved to the United States in 2010 to pursue her dream of becoming a chef. She has since worked in some of the top restaurants in New York City, and her own catering business is thriving.
“I love to cook, and I love to challenge myself,” Baci said. “When I heard about the Guinness World Record for the longest continuous cooking marathon, I knew I had to try for it.”
Hilda Baci trained for months for the challenge, and she had a team of volunteers helping her out in the kitchen. She cooked a variety of dishes, including Nigerian favourites like jollof rice and egusi soup, as well as international dishes like pasta and pizza.
“It was a lot of work, but it was also a lot of fun,” Baci said. “I got to meet a lot of great people, and I learned a lot about myself.”
Hilda Baci is now hoping that Guinness World Records will officially recognize her as the new record holder. If she is successful, she will be the first Nigerian to hold the record.
“It would mean the world to me to be recognized by Guinness World Records,” Baci said. “It would be a dream come true.”
