As the 16th edition of The Experience recently took place on the 3rd December 2021, here is everything to know about the biggest Gospel concert in the world.

The Experience, also known as The Experience Lagos is an annual gospel music concert usually held at the Tafawa Balewa Square in Lagos State Nigeria. It is hosted by “House on the Rock” a pentecostal church in Nigeria led by Pastor Paul Adefarasin.

The concert features some of the biggest gospel music stars  such as Kirk Franklin, Donnie McClurkin, Don Moen, Fred Hammond, Kurt Carr, Chevelle Franklyn, Mary Mary, Tye Tribbett, Israel Houghton, Cece Winans, Micah Stampley,  Frank Edwards and many more

The concert which averagely has over 700,000 people in attendance in most of its edition is tagged as the biggest gospel concert in the  World.

The first edition of the concert was held on the 1st of December 2006 and had an attendance of 70,000 people. The concert featured  Top gospel artists such as Kirk Franklin, Israel Houghton, Donnie McClurkin,  Mike Aremu,  Gordons,  Buchi, Tosin Martins,  Midnight Crew and many others.

The 2nd edition of the concert was held on the 30th of November 2007, and it featured mesmerizing performances from top Gospel Musical singers. Another edition was held on the 5th of December 2008and was as mesmerizing as the last one.

The fourth edition of The Experience was held on 4 December 2009,  and The fifth edition on the 3rd of  December 2010, Which had the presence of the then Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan and Lagos State Governor Babatunde Fashola.

The next edition of the concert was held on the 2nd December 2011  at the  Eko Hotels and Suites, the concert featured its usual performance from top musical acts.

The seventh edition of the Experience was held on 7 December 2012,  and another edition on 6 December 2013. Top Nigerian figures such as Yakubu Gowon, Tonye Cole, Olusegun Mimiko, Wale Adefarasin, Emmanuella Abimbola Fashola and Sam Adeyemi were in attendance.

The next edition held on the 5 December 2014 concert, had over 600,000 people in attendance, making it The biggest gospel in the world. Top Nigerian Political figures such as Jimi Agbaje, Abimbola Fashola and Femi Fani-Kayode were in attendance.

The 2015 edition which had over 700,000 people in attendance was a two days concert that was held on the 12th, and 15th of December 2015.  The Next edition in 2016 also had over 700,000 people in attendance had the presence of the Nigerian vice-president Yemi Osinbajo, his wife Oludolapo Osinbajo. Nigerian music stars Don Jazzy, Tiwa Savage, Dr SID, Toke Makinwa and the prominent blog writer, Egbeyemi Olawale were also in attendance.

The 10th edition of the concert had was attended by over 700,000 people including the then Lagos State Governor Akinwunmi Ambode. The 2018 and the 2019 editions of the Experience was was attended by almost a million people.  Travis Greene recognised it as the largest Christian concert in the world.

The 2020 edition of the Experience took place on Friday, 11 December 2020 did not take place at the Tafawa Balewa Square in Lagos due to the restrictions on mass gatherings due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The concert took place online and was streamed on YouTube and several other digital platforms and designated channels on satellite.
