Popular comedian and former Big Brother Naija housemate, DeeOne, has criticised Afrobeats star Davido for failing to attend the wedding of music executive Soso Soberekon, questioning the singer’s relationship with one of his longtime associates.
The comedian made the remarks in a video circulating on social media, where he argued that Davido should have honoured Soberekon because of the support he allegedly received from the music executive over the years.
DeeOne Questions Davido’s Absence
According to DeeOne, Davido neither attended the ceremony nor sent a representative from his team despite Soso Soberekon’s alleged contributions to his career.
“With all the things Soso Soberekon has done for Davido, he was supposed to be the one arranging chairs at that wedding. Let’s even say you were busy, you couldn’t send a message or even post a tweet wishing him a happy married life,” he said.
Alleges Jealousy Towards Colleagues
The comedian went further to accuse Davido of being uncomfortable with colleagues who become more successful than him.
“He wants you to do well, but he doesn’t want anyone to be more successful than him. The wedding was still a success with private jets everywhere. Davido, adjust this character. Stop being envious and jealous of your colleagues,” DeeOne alleged.
He also claimed that Soberekon played a key role in connecting Davido with opportunities during the early stages of his music career.
Drawing comparisons with Davido’s relationship with fellow Afrobeats star Wizkid, DeeOne added, “That was how he was close to Wizkid until Wizkid became better than him.”
Davido Yet to Respond
DeeOne’s comments followed Soso Soberekon’s lavish wedding ceremony in Warri, Delta State, which attracted several celebrities and prominent figures from Nigeria’s entertainment industry.
As of the time of filing this report, Davido has not publicly responded to the allegations made by the comedian.
