Meet Crystal Hayslett, The Actor Who Played Fatima On BET Sistas

Crystal Hayslett is a popular  American actor who is best known for playing “Fatima” in the BET comedy-drama series, Sistas. She has also featured in other movies such as The 5th Wave, Sleepless and the Acrimony

She was recently in the news after the Zatima, a spin off show for the BET Sista series premiered. Prior to her emergence as an Actor in 2019, she worked as a stylist in the costume department of Tyler Perry studios and also as the personal stylist to the popular movie producer Tyler Perry.

Who is Crystal Hayslett

Crystal Hayslett who is believed to be in her 30’s was born on the 18th of October in Martin Tennessee, U.S.

She is a graduate of the University of Tennessee began her career at Capitol Hill in Washington DC, She however left her job as a public servant in 2009, noting that Politics wasn’t her passion.

She moved to Atlanta in the same year to pursue a career in music and acting, in her interview with Essence Magazine, she stated that her musical career started on a good note but she started hitting roadblocks due to trouble finding a good production team, trying to get closer to a deal, etcetera.

After performing and doing shows around the city for a few years, Crystal Hayslett landed a job at Tyler Perry Studios (TPS) as a production assistant in 2012. She did that for a couple of years and was transitioned into costume design at the studio, and was also hired as Tyler Perry’s personal stylist.

While working in the studios as a costume designer for  7 years, she auditioned for several movie roles but wasn’t lucky to be called back.

Acting Career

In 2019, when the Sistas series was birthed, Crystal Hayslett decided to tell her Tyler Perry boss she could act, who then decided to create a minor role for her in the drama series. (Fatima wasn’t an original character on Sistas, but she was introduced in the second season as Zac’s love interest.)

The small part she got eventually became a regular in the series and that marked the breakthrough in her acting career.

The first season of the show premiered on BET in October 2019, two additional seasons were premiered for the series . One on October 14, 2020, and the last on June 9, 2021.

In December 2021  Tyler Perry’s Studios announced that they have begun filming for the new Sistas spin-off series,  Zatima which was recently premiered on BET. The series featured Devale Ellis as Zac Taylor and Crystal  Hayslett as Fatima.

Aside from acting, Crystal Hayslett likes playing tennis and cooking. She also films her cooking and shares it on IGTVs, Lives, and even YouTube. She revealed that most of her meals are plant-based.
