Biography
Cobie Smulders was born on April 3, 1982 in Vancouver, British Columbia. Her father is Dutch and her mother is British. She was raised in White Rock, British Columbia, and later moved to West Point Grey neighbourhood to attend high school at Lord Byng Secondary School. Cobie Smulder got her nickname “Cobie” from her great-aunt whom she is named after. And, she has four sisters. Also, as a child, she was a member of the Girl Guides of Canada and she participated as a Brownie (Girl Guide program for 7-10 years old).
Cobie Smulders was also briefly into modelling but she had recounted that she hated it and additionally stated that, the experience made her hesitant about pursuing her acting career.
As a youth, she had recounted that she aspired to be a marine biologist. But, she picked an interest in theatre throughout her high school and she also briefly studied at the University of Victoria before returning to acting finally.

Early Career
Cobie Smulders had her first acting role as a guest in the Jeremiah series. Afterwards, she made several appearances on TV and this includes a role she repeated on The L Word. In 2014, Cobie Smulders filmed a public service announcement with Ocena, an international ocean-conservation organization. Personal Life
In January 2009, Cobie Smulders got engaged to Taran Killam. They got married on September 8, 2012 in Solvang, California. Their union is blessed with two daughters born in 2009 and 2015 respectively and they live in Pacific Palisades California.
In 2015, Cobie Smulders revealed that she had been diagnosed with ovarian cancer at age of 25, while on the set of How I Met Your Mother in 2007. She had surgery to remove two tumors from her ovaries but it was too late as the cancer had spread to her lymph nodes which resulted in the need for multiple operations for two years. In August 2019, Cobie Smulders said she is in remission. In 2020, she announced that she has acquired an American citizenship.
