Biography

Kristin Kreuk was born on the 30th of December, 1982 in Vancouver, British Columbia. Her parents are Deanna Che and Peter Kreuk who are landscape architects. Kristin Kreuk’s mother is of Chinese descent and was born in Indonesia, also, her maternal grandmother was Chinese-Jamaican while her father is Dutch. Also, she has a younger sister, Justine Kreuk.

Kristin Kreuk was trained in karate and gymnastics at the national level until she was in high school. But when she got to grade 11, she had to quit because she had scoliosis, a condition in which a person’s spine has a sideways curve.

Initially, Kristin Kreuk wanted to study forensic science or psychology at Simon Fraser University was contacted  by a director to be cast for the CBC television series, Edgemont when she was in high school.

Early Career

After filming the first season of Edgemont, a teenage soap opera, she landed the role of Snow White in a movie of same title, Snow White: The Fairest of Them All. The movie aired on ABC, and was later released on DVD in 2002. In 2004, Kristin Kreuk played the role of Tenar for Earthsea miniseries.

After Snow White, her agent sent an audition tape to screenwriters Alfred Gough and Miles Miller while they were putting together the cast for Smallville. Alfred Gough and Miles Miller invited Kristin Kreuk to WB’s studio in Burbank, California to audition for the role of Clark Kent’s first love, Lana Lang, and she eventually bagged the role. During that period, she was starring on both Smallville and Edgemont. Edgemont ended its run in 2005 after filming and releasing 7 seasons. In early 2008, she left Smallville when her character left town, then, she returned as a guest star in the 8th season of the show for five episodes to complete her storyline.

2018-2021

Kristin Kreuk signed on for a multi-episode arc in the season three of Chuck where she played Hannah, a computer troubleshooter who joins the Buy More Nerd Herd after being sent off her previous job. In 2010, she appeared in Ben Hur which aired in Canada and on ABC in the United States.

In Frebruary 2012, she was announced as the lead female character in Beauty & the Beast which was picked up on May 11, 2012, and aired in the Fall 2012. And the series finale aired on August 25, 2016.

In 2018, Kristin Kreuk played the lead role in Burden of Truth, the show premiered on January 10, 2018. On April 15, 2018, The CW announced that they had acquired the rights to air the show beginning in summer 2018. CBC finally renewed Burden of Truth for a fourth season and it finally ended in 2021 after the fourth season.

Career Breakthrough

In early 2005, Kristin Kreuk signed on to the Canadian independent film Partition where she played Naseem . In the summer of the same year, she starred in the short film, Dream Princess written by Kaare Andrews, but sadly, it never aired. She went ahead to star in Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li (2009) where she played the title character. In early 2010, she signed into the Japanese horror film, Vampire (2011) and also starred in the music video of I Heard by musician, Hill Zaini.

Kristin Kreuk starred as Heather in the film, Irvine Welsh’s Ecstacy (2011) based on the latter’s novel. She also starred as Tilda in the comedy film, Space Milkshake. Later on, she started a production company, Parvati Creative Inc, with Rosena Bhura whom she met on the set of Partition. The company focuses on Human-centric films as seen through a female lens and the company’s first production was a short film which was directed by Rick Rosenthal and Kristin Kreuk was an executive producer. The company’s second project was a comedy web series, Queenie.

In 2003, Neutrogena made Kristin Kreuk the spokesmodel for their worldwide advertising campaign. And in 2005, she renewed her contract with them for another two years which led to her becoming the company’s longest-serving spokesperson.

In August 2017, Kristin Kreuk voiced Princess Shuyan in Shuyan Saga, a graphic novel series with the ancient Chinese martial arts fantasy universe as its setting. Later on, she repeated her role as Catherine Chandler of Beauty & the Beast in Robot Chicken.
