Chris Matthews born Christopher John Matthews is an American political commentator, talk show host, and author. He is best known for his one-hour nightly talk show, Hardball with Chris Matthews, on MSNBC.
Matthews hosted an NBC News-produced weekend panel discussion program titled The Chris Matthews Show from 2002 to 2013. He appears frequently on other NBC and MSNBC news programs.

It is an American television talk show on MSNBC, airing weekdays at 7 p.m. ET hosted by Chris Matthews. Hardball with Chris Matthews originally aired on America’s Talking (as Politics with Chris Matthews) and later on CNBC. This title is derived from a book Matthews wrote in 1988, Hardball: How Politics Is Played Told by One Who Knows the Game.
Hardball is a talking head type cable news program, in which the moderator emphasizes opinions on a wide range of topics, focusing primarily on current political issues. Issues are discussed on a guest panel which usually consists of political analysts and sometimes politicians. Each episode is kicked off by Matthew with a brief commentary on a current story and follows it with the invitation “Let’s play hardball”. This conference also takes place in a “Best of” format on Saturday mornings at 5 am.

This is a half-hour news and political roundtable program produced by NBC News. The Chris Matthews was taped in Washington, DC, and syndicated nationally by NBCUniversal Television Distribution. This program was launched on September 22, 2002, and its last episode aired on July 21, 2013.
It is a program that usually airs on Sunday mornings before or after Sunday morning talk shows, usually on NBC affiliates or their sister stations.

MSNBC star Chris compared President Trump’s supporters to dogs who are trained to align themselves with Russian President Vladimir Putin instead of NATO. Chris also released footage of Trump speaking at a recent rally, where Trump told the crowd that NATO needs to start paying its bills before predicting that his next meeting with Putin will go “well”. However, Chris didn’t like what he heard from the president.
Chris said the president is taking on the Republican Party, a grassroots party that spent 60, 70 years waging war in the Cold War hating the Russians for all their aggression around the world and taking over countries on the border and to be tyrannical as they are now and he has these people cheering against Western Europe. Chris said: ‘He trains these people with dogs.’

CHRIS MATTHEWS FIRED
In December 2017, multiple outlets reported that in 1999, Matthews was accused by an assistant producer on his show for making inappropriate jokes and comments. Matthews was formally reprimanded by his employer CNBC and his accuser was awarded a $40,000 separation settlement.
RETIREMENT OF CHRIS MATTHEWS ON HARDBALL
Matthews unexpectedly announced his retirement live on his show The Hardball with Chris Matthews on MSNBC. The Wall Stree Journal reported that Matthews had planned to retire, but due to mounting allegations against him, he decided to resign immediately. After his announcement of less than two minutes, the show went on hiatus with host Steve Kornacki temporarily replacing him for the remaining minutes of the show.
Chris has apologized for inappropriate comments he has made about women in the past after columnist Laura Bassett confirmed he made sexual comments about her when she was a guest on her show in 2016.
Part of his apology was;
“Compliments on a woman’s appearance that some men, myself included, might have mistakenly thought were never right. Not then, and certainly not today, and for making such comments in the past, I’m sorry. ‘
