Meet Bisi Kolawole, The PDP Governoship Candidate in Ekiti State.

Bisi Kolawale is a former lawmaker and the former chairman of the PDP chapter in Ekiti State. He recently emerged as the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the incoming governorship election in Ekiti state.

He had resigned his position as Ekiti PDP chairman to contest the governorship election. He was the preferred aspirant of Fayose, former governor of the state.

Bisi defeated Segun Oni, an ex-governor, and Kolapo Olusola, a former deputy governor in the state primary election took place in Ado-Ekiti on Wednesday.

Who is Bisi Kolawale

As stated earlier Bisi Kolawole is a former lawmaker, who represented the Efon constituency in the Ekiti state house of assembly. He also served as commissioner of the environment between 2015 and 2018.

While endorsing Kolawole for the governorship election, Fayose described him as a bridge-builder who will usher in a better future for Ekiti and the PDP.

“The man you have come to honour, Bisi Kolawole, is our collective project. I made him my preferred candidate in the overall interest of our party, but this does not foreclose due process of nomination in PDP,” Fayose said.

Prior to his emergence as the chairman of the PDP party in Ekiti, Kolawole was one of Fayose’s closest aides, he had also been a campaign manager for Dayo Ayde and Olusola Aleka, two former Ekiti State governorship aspirants.

He contested for the Chairman opposition of the Ekiti PDP chapter and pulled a total of 1651 votes out of 1690 votes.

Emergence as Ekiti State PDP Governorship Candidate

As earlier stated he resigned from his position as Ekiti PDP chairman in September 2021 to contest the Ekiti state governorship election.

In the Primary election, he pulled a total of 671, while his nearest primary rival Segun Oni pulled a total of 360 votes.

Bisi Kolawole’s victory was announced by Emmanuel Udom,  the governor of Akwa Ibom, who was the chairman of the primary election committee.

Commenting on Kolawole’s Victory, Fayose said: “PDP is what we are supporting; it is what we are marketing. And all we want is a winner. We have started consultations and I know that victory is sure for us.”
