Presiding Bishop of Living Faith Church Worldwide (Winners’ Chapel), David Oyedepo, has condemned the persistent killings and insecurity across Nigeria, declaring that he would pray against those responsible rather than pray for them.

The cleric made the remarks during a church service, where he expressed frustration over the continued loss of innocent lives.

‘I Will Pray Against You’

In a video widely circulated on social media, Oyedepo said those responsible for the bloodshed should not expect prayers of mercy from him.

“You can’t slaughter members of my family and expect me to pray for you. I will pray against you and your household,” he said.

He also criticised what he described as the government’s inability to tackle the country’s security challenges.

“The government is pretending like they don’t know what to do. I have been quiet for a long time, but the bubble is about to burst,” he added.

Calls for Leaders to Protect Lives

During a separate prayer session for Nigeria, Oyedepo urged political leaders to place greater value on the lives of citizens and ensure people can practise their faith freely.

He warned politicians, whether in government or outside it, to repent from acts of wickedness, saying those who continue to promote violence would face divine judgment.

According to him, leaders are caretakers of the nation and not its owners, expressing confidence that Nigeria would overcome its security challenges.

“Nigeria shall not see war,” he declared.

Renewed Concern Over Insecurity

Oyedepo’s comments come as Nigeria continues to battle banditry, kidnappings and attacks on communities across different parts of the country.

The bishop has repeatedly spoken against insecurity in previous sermons, calling for decisive action against perpetrators and those sponsoring violent crimes.

His latest remarks have generated mixed reactions online, with many supporting his position while others called for stronger government measures to address the country’s security crisis.
