Ashley Benson was born on the 18th of December, 1989 in Anaheim Hills, California. Her parents are Shannon and Jeff Benson. She also has an older sister, Shaylene Benson who is also an actress. Ashley Benson has Irish, English, and German ancestry. At the age of 2, she had already started dancing competitively with hip hop, jazz, ballet, tap and lyrical. Also, she started singing at the age of 5 and had been nursing the thought of acting since that age. At the same age, she started modelling for dance catalogues. And at the age of 8 already, The Ford Modeling Agency started pursuing her. Then, she started working steadily in print and is still with the agency to date.

Early Career
Ashley Benson as earlier stated, began dancing competitively, studying jazz, tap, and hip hop. Also at the age of 4, she started singing in choirs and musicals and even performing a solo at her church. And when she was 8, she signed with Ford Modelling agency and appeared in several print ads.
From 2004 to 2007, Ashley Benson appeared on the daytime soap, Days of Our Lives as Abigail Deveraux. Afterwards, she made her big screen debut in the 2004 comedy, 13 Going on 30. She also starred as Carson in Bring It On: In It To Win It in 2007 which was the fourth instalment of the Bring It On franchise.

For Bring It On: In It to Win It, she had to attend cheerleading practice because she was afraid of heights. In 2008, she appeared in Fab Five: The Texas Cheerleader Scandal where she played head cheerleader, Brooke Tippit. Also, she had a supporting role in Bart Got a Room, which aired mainly on film festivals in 2008 before having a limited release in 2009. In 2009, Ashley Benson starred in the Eastwick series. The series, however, only lasted 11 episodes before it was cancelled by ABC due to low ratings.

In December 2009, Ashley Benson was cast as Hanna Marin in Pretty Little Liars based on the novel series by Sara Shepard. The series premiered to 2.47 million viewers and Ashley Benson’s performance received several critical appraisals. For her performance in the film, she also received several awards and nominations. In the spin-off series, Ravenswood, she repeated the Hanna Marin role.
In 2010, Ashley Benson starred in Christmas Cupid which aired on ABC Family.
