Arise News co-anchor Rufai Oseni has reacted sarcastically to Datti Baba-Ahmed’s recent comments that major opposition politicians, including Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar, cannot improve Nigeria if elected in 2027.

Oseni made the remark during a segment of The Morning Show while discussing Baba-Ahmed’s recent interview on the Mic On Podcast hosted by Seun Okinbaloye.

Oseni Reacts to Datti’s Claim

Referencing Baba-Ahmed’s position, Oseni said, “Tinubu should hand over to Datti Baba-Ahmed, as he is the only one who can save Nigeria.”

The comment was made in response to Baba-Ahmed’s argument that none of the politicians currently positioning themselves to challenge President Bola Tinubu would improve the country.

The remark has since generated reactions online, with viewers interpreting it as a sarcastic response to Baba-Ahmed’s assessment of the opposition.

Datti Rules Out Major Challengers

During his Mic On Podcast interview, Baba-Ahmed advised Tinubu to prepare to leave office at the end of his tenure but argued against handing power to the politicians challenging him in the 2027 presidential election.

He specifically mentioned his former running mate Peter Obi and former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, among others, saying they had all been part of the ruling political establishment at different times.

Baba-Ahmed said he was different because he had never belonged to a ruling party and presented himself as an advocate for a “new Nigeria.”
