Apostle Joshua Aghasedo, leader of Powerline Church in Oklahoma City, has said sex toys can help married couples improve intimacy, with his comments drawing mixed reactions online.
Aghasedo made the remarks during a church service themed “Am I Married to My Enemy?” while addressing whether using sex toys within marriage amounts to sin.
Aghasedo Explains His Position
The pastor compared sex toys with everyday equipment such as cars and phones, arguing that modern technology can assist couples with intimacy.
“Is using a sex toy a sin? Is driving a car a sin? A car to drive you from here to Dallas, is it a sin? Using the phone, is it a sin?” he asked.
Aghasedo added that although he had never personally used a sex toy, he considered it a tool that could assist married couples.
“I have never used a sex toy. Let me just say. But in this modern day of technology, it’s an equipment. It can help you do the job to 90%, and you finish the remaining 10%. I’m just being real. It can help you,” he said.
Pastor Says Sex Toys Should Be Limited To Marriage
Aghasedo said he had previously recommended a sex toy to a married couple after considering their situation, saying his intention was to help strengthen the marriage and prevent either partner from seeking sexual fulfilment outside the relationship.
He stressed that his position applied only to married couples.
“Sex toy is only for married couples. We are talking within the framework of marriage, right? Not outside. It’s for married couples,” he said.
The pastor also distinguished between using sex toys with a spouse and using them alone. According to his religious interpretation, solo use amounts to masturbation, which he equated with fornication.

The video has circulated widely on social media, including X, where posts featuring Aghasedo’s remarks generated different reactions.
