An Edo State resident, identified as Mc Saint Eli, has criticised Governor Monday Okpebholo over the condition of roads in the state after the governor mocked Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke’s dancing during an APC campaign rally.
Resident Raises Concerns Over Road Conditions
In a video shared on X on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, Mc Saint Eli stood on a muddy and waterlogged road while drawing attention to deep potholes, flooding and a vehicle reportedly stuck in the mud.
He questioned why Okpebholo travelled to Osun State to comment on Adeleke’s dancing while residents in Edo were dealing with poor road conditions.
The video showed residents navigating the damaged road, while an image of Okpebholo was displayed over the footage. The post attracted reactions from social media users, with some joining the criticism of road infrastructure in the state.
Okpebholo’s Comments About Adeleke
The resident’s criticism followed remarks made by Okpebholo during an APC campaign rally in Osun State on August 6.
While campaigning for the party’s governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, Okpebholo criticised Adeleke’s frequent public dancing and questioned whether the Osun governor was giving enough attention to governance.
“For four years, this man has been dancing,” Okpebholo said, while also alleging that Adeleke frequently missed governors’ meetings in Abuja.
Adeleke later defended his dancing, saying it was part of his personality and did not prevent him from working.
Okpebholo’s Position on Edo Roads
Okpebholo, who became Edo governor in November 2024 after defeating the PDP candidate, has previously said his administration inherited significant infrastructure problems from the previous government led by Godwin Obaseki.
His administration has since announced and inspected road construction, maintenance and erosion-control projects across the state. The government has also commissioned equipment for road maintenance and attributed some of the infrastructure challenges to years of neglect.
The latest video has added to the political debate surrounding Okpebholo’s administration and the wider exchanges between political figures ahead of the August 15 Osun governorship election.
No official response from the Edo State Government to the resident’s specific criticism had been reported as of Wednesday.
